Same amount of valeting whether 2 or 7 days?

Yeah all fixed costs on their side but some price elasticity would be nice?
I’m now looking at first class trains and Ubers as much cheaper alternative. There must be some demand side stuff going on.

Re; car rental,
Do you have specific pick up/drop off points that are a hidden barrier to price/time flexibility?A relaxing train journey sounds much better.

It's price elasticity which is causing 2-day and 7-day hire rates to converge

Apparently car rental firms are having difficulty buying new cars so there is less availability of hire cars than usual.

Europcar and Enterprise locations within 500m of my front door in SE13, they are about 200m apart.
It’s a cartel obvs. Bring back Easycar and hanging out in scary empty multi storey car parks.

how concerned should i be with bike theft? i'm balking at bringing my daily drivers because boston doesn't seem to have it nearly as bad as you all do.

Shortage of vehicles is also a factor, due to shortage of critical silicon chips, that’s what the CBC tells me is the reason in my country anyway.

My kettle has gone. It's one of those ones with a base you lift the kettle off.
Stupidly the other day I put it on empty by mistake and then because I only needed a little bit of water chucked some cold water in.
Is this the sort of thing I can fix? Or is it new kettle time?
Cheers.

Model? Ours is the same but a dualit classic and you can easily replace most parts.

Any idea how to remove these blemishes from stainless steel? Not quite sure what it is. Have some stainless steel cleaner and that hasn’t done much against it.

Rust, possibly. Stainless steel isn't rust proof, just very resistant

Depends. You might have knackered the element (probably fatal), or you might have blown the thermal fuse (replaceable). Only one way to find out.

Cheers. That gives me something to go on.
It was bought in 2016, so not a bad innings. But if I can fix it for under a tenner and save throwing it into a land fill it seems worth it.
Plus it matches my toaster and I don't really want to go to the effort of geeking out over a replacement.

Pink Stuff. It's brilliant and cheap and does chrome too.

Sori Yanagi stovetop. None of this plug-it-in nonsense. easier to descale as well.

descale
No need for shit that when your lovely tap water is pumped from the Lake District.

ooh, i'm listening. Getting an induction hob in Jan so this could be a good call. Trying to have less stuff on the surface and currently down to kettle and toaster.

out of interest, is stove top more or less efficient than electric?
is that even possible to quantify?answered my own question
- Electric kettles are slightly more energy-efficient, coming in at around 80%, vs 70% efficiency on the stovetop. However, this is evened out by the fact that gas is cheaper per unit than electric. Then you need to factor in the fact that stovetops take longer to boil water vs an electric kettle. On balance, it probably works out roughly the same, but perhaps slightly cheaper to use an electric kettle.

I bought a stovetop Le Creuset kettle last week.
It take pretty much exactly twice the length of time to turn 2 litres of water into steam as my Dualit one does. -

Is it any harder to renew an expired passport than one with some time left on it?
It's my blue (haha Brexit wankers) Aussie passport. Not much point renewing if I've no plans going back, right?
How has the car rental market developed to the point that a seven day and two day rental can be the same fucking price?
