  • My garden constantly stinks of dog piss (on account of my dog constantly pissing in it). The whole thing is a thin layer of gravel over plastic sheeting. I guess there's no way for things to drain through properly. Any tips on making the whole affair less aromatic?

  • Shoot the dog

  • Biological washing liquid in a sprayer.

  • Frozen sausages, but deep, then throw them next door.

  • What, on the dog? At least the little bugger will come up glossy.

  • Anyone here have first person experience with rotator cuff / subscapularis tears and recovery / surgery?

  • Get a proper surgeon, lots of people go to Manchester from my area for this sort of thing

  • ^^Currently a year in to non-surgical recovery for a rotator cuff tear. PM me if you like.

  • Any tips on making the whole affair less aromatic?

Sell dog. I gather they're quite in demand ATM.

  • Teach it to piss in the can.

  • Easy grand, two if it’s a puppy, more if it has pedigree papers.

  • had rotator cuff tear about 20 years ago, treatment was extensive cortisone injections (16 separate in one sitting...my doctor at the time was a complete sadist), and physiotherapy, no surgery and all good after 3 months, and no issues since

  • I've been walking around with shoulder pain worsening for like months nearly. Maybe this started when I broke my neck. Recently landed on it two more times doing MTB. Looks like I'm pretty fucked :(

There is axillary recess thickening and oedema suggestive of adhesive
capsulitis. Small full thickness tear of anterior infraspinatus and a
partial thickness undersurface tear of supraspinatus. There is a more
significant tear of subscapularis though this still involves the majority of
the insertional fibres deep on the lesser tubercle with the superficial
fibres remaining intact. Superior labral tear at the biceps anchor.

Worst part is I cannot reach my back pocket.

  • So, you are going to get surgery yeah?
Try and keep a positive attitude ok.
When I broke my hand and arm 10 years ago the orthopedic surgeon told me there was a chance my hand would never recover full function...I ignored that, did physiotherapy, relearned guitar, and spent a lot of hours in the saddle and gym.
You'll be back on the bike again, it's just when not if.

And not being able to reach your back pocket means two things...get a smaller wallet, and open a tab at your local

  • I mean my jersey pocket.

I don't know what the doc will recommend tomorrow. I'm just over it. After my accident last year rehab took so long. Then I developed a labral tear in my hip and couldn't get the work load in I wanted. Now this. I'm a bit out of positive attitude ATM :(

  • Was that rehab for a broken neck? Rotator cuffs shouldn’t take as long, IME.

Source- previously injured rock climber, never broken a neck though.

  • Best value and effective road center lock disc rotors?

  • Well, I was in the neck brace for 6 weeks but not allowed to properly turn my neck, drive or cycle for 12. After that I had to deal with hand injuries etc as well and my neck kept being pretty painful and stiff. Physio and exercises galore. Got myself back to riding centuries at not such bad pace, but then started getting hip pain from labral tear ...

And now this. It's been getting worse and worse over maybe 4 months. I held off going to the doc because I am sick of it at this stage. Then I decked it on the MTB a few times. Right now I can't use my arm properly or sleep without pain ... Sucks.

  • Damn that does suck. When I injured my left RC I had to wear button up shirts because I couldn’t raise my arm above 45 deg without stabbing pain, and I couldn’t really get it above horizontal at all. Sleeping was definitely the worst.

Good news is that RC tend to heal very well with treatment. I’d recommend getting ‘er done and seeing a doc soon, frustrating as it is. That way you’ll get the countdown ticking on your recovery, and you might be able to ride in the sunshine soon.

  • So what was the treatment for yours?

  • First guy I saw was convinced it was a muscle impingement so I went through several weeks of very slight improvement with very annoying pain. Eventually got a 2nd opinion with a sports specialist, who referred me to a sports surgeon, who ended up putting two small anchors into my bone and used them to tie off the tear in my supraspinatus. I did physio religiously with a therapist I’d known for years, and I think within a few months I was climbing and eventually regained full strength and function in that shoulder.

It sometimes aches if I carry a heavy (>20kg) backpack for extended periods, but doesn’t properly ‘hurt’, if that makes sense. I can also shift my humerus bone down slightly in the socket by pulling my pec muscle in a certain way, which I can’t do with my right shoulder.

Adding- I remember having therapy with a TENS machine, but I’m not sure if that was for my shoulder or a separate back injury.

And- hope the appt goes well today for you.

  • I had a tear where the bicep tendon attaches. It wasn't so bad apart from the shoulder would dislocate really easily and that was very painful. I had it repaired with a keyhole surgery. Strangest thing about the surgery was it was done under a nerve block so my arm was effectively paralysed afterwards. Proper weird sensation and odd feelings as the block wore off.

Post surgery I did a lot of physio rehab, both at home and in a clinic. I felt pretty glum about it at the time but eventually the movement came back. Now 6 years on there is an occasional twinge of aching but generally fine, the joint feels stable and I've got a fine range of motion.

Good luck, do your best to keep a positive attitude - it takes time as others have said but should be ok in the end. May be worth getting a few opinions from surgeons/physios to understand options. Mine went to surgery because of the outcomes I wanted (better range of motion and weight bearing without loss of stability).

  • Thanks man. Steroid injections booked for next week. Let's see how that goes.

  • I think you'll be surprised how well it works, hopefully it helps

  • can anyone on here help me regiser for a wechat account? I want to explore it but it seems you need someone with an active account to verify you first, but I don't know anyone who already has one
