Got one in the tool box if you want it, NOS ping me a PM and I'll stick it in the post!

I have noticed on several cycle specific routes in London there are counters to monitor the amount of traffic each route gets.
Is there any way of accessing this data or knowing how many of these stations are present?
Working on a project where I am looking to see the most used cycle specific routes in London.

Thailand, post tsunami, DVI.
Just realised DVI isn't in common parlance - Disaster Victim Identification :) -

Can’t see it in this eBay ad but my Sakae MTB stem has a small widened space in the stem slot for a cable outer stop, letting the bare cable drop through the centre of the stem body.
The Sakae has a low stack too! (okay, on the downside it weighs five tons).
edit: eesh replied to the wrong post, sorry.

Although in the end, the best thing I did to my CX bike was to get a new fork and use a disc brake, and we solved the chatter on my little brother's CX bike quickly and cheaply by fitting mini-V brakes. Cantilevers are far too much of a PITA to set up at the best of times, and half the time you end up getting parts made to make them work even halfway acceptably. For all of those reasons, I'm out.

Send an FoI request to TfL. There are a few that were installed by boroughs, too, e.g. Hackney has, or used to have, one on Goldsmith's Row. That data would be held by the individual boroughs, and I suppose you could send template letters to them, too, although you'd mostly get 'no' back as an answer to the question whether they have any counters.
Be warned, though, that it's fairly useless, low-level data. Movements along individual links tell you virtually nothing about the network.

Just had to look it up on acronym finder, figured out that you must have been talking about the thing that's right at the end of a long list otherwise populated with about 50 variations of Digital/Direct and Video/Visual🙂

When you start with such a fundamentally flawed design, the only way to make it work at all is to throw a lot of material at it.

Copy all the good features of a Salsa, including the roller. It gives the neatest cable routing without having the 90° cable bend in a tube. Run the bare cable as close to the bearing cups as possible to minimise the leverage exerted on the steerer via the stem clamp. Remember kids, cable tension under heavy braking can exceed 1kN

Thanks that’s really good info, I’ve managed to find some of the data from individual boroughs as they have made it available.
I was unsure whether or not it was a centralised initiative and the data was pooled.
What would be in your opinion the best way to judge the busier cycle routes in London?

There is a data portal on TfL with this info. I know it well as I used it for my Master's thesis. Happy to chat over PM with specifics

What sort of results do you want to get out of it? Just which 'route' has the highest flows? The counters usually only capture very few places, and 'routes' are usually on long alignments of which many people ride only a short section, and most people don't use the whole of what may be defined as a 'route', or they dip in and out as they need to do something off-'route'. It's impossible to capture actual usage by means of cycle counters. Obviously, as more and more people have mobile phones with GPS devices in them, or actual dedicated GPS devices, that sort of data capture has potential, but as far as I know it hasn't been used by public authorities owing to obvious privacy concerns. I'm sure that doesn't stop companies like Strava from selling it to all and sundry, and for that sort of data you'll have to pay, but I imagine, not having looked at it, that it wouldn't be particularly good data, either, e.g. biased towards roadies, etc.
It's generally a mistake to think about 'routes' first. They invariably represent a very small percentage of the network and at best reflect partially some concentrated commuter flows (mostly biased towards middle-class riders). This works to some extent in London, as it's a very centralised place, but doesn't give very useful information about cycle usage generally. Commuter flows are not a good basis for trying to grow cycling, which is at its best where it is the default option for relatively short, multi-stop trips. That's where it is unbeatable, and the fertile ground from which other forms of cycle usage can grow. However, that requires actual work on urban development and network usage, which for the most part public authorities find too difficult (with honourable exceptions).

Is there a go to forum member for decals/vinyl cut letters?
Tia etc

We have a cutter - computer controlled - takes 12"x12" - good quality but craft quantity - so think one-offs instead of large runs. Happy to give it a go for you. And bring you over for dinner.

@Oliver Schick is right, I can't do decals.
@Aroogah offer sounds great, dinner included!
Anyone is welcome to collect stickers in person from me, I can't promise dinner but definitely can do a coffee on Dartmoor. -

I can cut, not print. Have some colours in for a change. Been out of the picture for a while, home stuff, but yea I can cut most up to.....big.
