  • Spade. Put a spade to it. It's fast and almost painless.
It will stop the infection from spreading.

  • On those cheap universal brake cables, how do they fit the casing and ferrules around the cable when it has both ends attached?

  • I'm so boring

  • Two different fittings, cut off the one that doesn't fit.

  • I guess you're asking how they got the outer cable onto the cable when both ends are capped?

I'd say they fitted the outers before soldering (or however it's done) on the other end

  • If I wear XL Endura Hummvee shorts, what size does that translate to in Swrve's shorts?

I have a pair of XL Hummvee and I have a pair of 36" sprint cut knicers from Swrve. The waist is a bit too big on both, but my thighs are too big for the 34" from Swrve. It'll be different if you want the ones that are described as 'stylish trim fit' which always means too skinny for my legs.

  • I have a pair of Bontrager shoes, and have had them for about eight months. Having tried them on in the shop, they fitted fine and felt good. However, after about 25mins riding I get a real hotspot / pain on the outside of my right foot. I have tried a bit of fiddling with cleat position and strap tightness but to no avail. I am beginning to resign myself to just having to buy a different pair of shoes. I don't suffer from it on my Sidi road shoes, so am thinking I'll get a pair of dominators.

Before I do though, can anyone offer any possible solutions? Or do I need to HTFU and get over the fact that the Bontrager last isn't any good for my feet? Is there any way of predicting when trying on shoes?

    Advice welcome

    Thanks

  • I found it took a while to experiment with different tightness of each strap. Maybe try a new inner sole or not using an inner sole?

  • Cheers Sumo, I've tried with no innersole but it didn't make a difference.

  • maybe visit a running shop to get some well fitted inner soles?

  • 25 mins isn't really that long. I only tend to notice if the straps are too tight after a couple of hours in the saddle. I would try moving the cleat, a la Tiswas even 1 mm will make a huge difference. If that doesn't work try as Spotter said.

  • My freezable pizza express pizza says I have to defrost it before cooking, will I die if I don't?

  • cooking = defrosting

  • Move the cleat.

I have had a go, but maybe I'll persist. If the hotspot is on the outside of my foot, would you agree that the smart move is to shift the cleat towards the outside to offer greater support?

  • try moving it back slightly.

  • Could some one help me with this sentence please

"... requiring an unfeasibly small parameter "

    or

"... requiring a infeasibly small parameter"

my intuition say "un" but spell check say "in".

  • Part of the reason for different shoes for MTB and road is the cleats - smaller cleats for mtb are less likely to clog up with mud etc. however they have a smaller contact point with the shoe so hot spots are more likely. But on an MTB you tend to pedal less of the time so its not such an issue.

However if using MTB shoes on a road bike you pedal for much longer without a break so hotspots become more pronounced.

You can generally get a more precise fitting for a road cleat than an mtb one because it is more important.

I would suggest you try and adjust the cleat alignment, possibly a foot bed will help.

Even better ignore all the online diagnoses and see a professional

  • How do I know when 705 is fully charged? Garmin shows full red battery icon when plugged in the charger. Any ideas?

  • Anyone know any store in the square mile where I can get a neutral-coloured non-slip sole fitted to a leather-soled shoe? I've been into the Timpsons around Cannon St, but they only do them in black.
