I imagine this https://www.macobserver.com/columns-opinions/devils-advocate/iphone-now-faster-macs/
They both seem to be slower than my couple of years-old, work Dell laptop.
-
• #9603
Yeah, they're both slower than most things but still... It's a cross roads.
Wonder if they've been keeping arm OS X binaries on the back burner since Leopard...

Too many glued-together components for me... Could you still open those up and upgrade them yourself or did that void the warranty?
-
• #9605
The Ivy Bridge non-retina models (late 2011) were the last models with officially sanctioned user-upgradeable/replaceable RAM and disk/SSD.
They also have USB 3, which is nice to have and had been out for ages already but whatever...Everything since has been a glued and welded together, proprietary clusterfuck.

They are both low power devices where portability is the primary concern.

Disappointing launch from Apple this week.
iPhone7 in particular, trailing camera technology. I'm sticking with iPhone6+Apple Watch 2 with Pokemon Go ffs like that was gonna persuade me..
Why did they not produce a Cardio/GPS/MP3 watch like Tomtom, twats.. because they want us to lump our phones around, and recharge watches every day....What I was waiting for was a smart watch without gimmicks I can use in the gym with cardio and 500 tunes. Use on the bike for cardio and GPS. Use in the pool for cardio and stroke count. No straps no Phone, just Bluetooth headphones..
I won't be replacing/upgrading my MacBook Pro (2013) any time soon either.
I am disappoint....

Am I the only one that's fairly happy with how the iPhone 7 is looking? Yes the lack of a headphones jack of sucks (RIP Aux cord) and will especially suck when you need t0 buy bluetooth headphones just so you can listen to something as your phone charges...
But I still ordered one, 7 Plus in black, am absolutely stoked on the 2 camera thing, splash resistance and speed. That said I probably wouldn't have bothered if EE weren't letting me cling to my awesome contract.

Isn't this what the whole deal with the Apple Watch series 2 is over the first gen model? Even with my first gen model you can put tunes on it and sync it with headphones just fine, the series 2 gps means you can leave the phone at home…

Happy enough to order one. The main selling point is that I just can't manage with 16GB any more, but there are a number of other nice features.
I will have a very good condition silver iPhone 6 for sale when the 7 arrives, if anyone is interested.

There are at least two other solutions to that problem already:

Cool so I'll just carry round that lightning adapter, then a lightning to 3.5mm adapter, and headphones.

Get a fenix 3. You won't look back.

I guess you'd have to if you needed to charge and listen to music away from home. I don't think I've ever had to do that at or away from home. I'll just leave the included adapter on the end of my headphone cable.

Pretty sure I will get one.
If wireless headphone tech has actually matured now (which Apple seem to be banking on) I will happily make do with an adaptor for a year or so until headphones get a bit cheaper.
But I'm not convinced - my experience with bluetooth headphones so far has not been great - noticeably inferior audio quality, and sound cutting out when walking with the phone in a trouser pocket (due to my body blocking the signal).
Maybe the headphones are not the best (Urbanears Plattan Wireless) but for £80 or whatever they cost (this time last year) I'd expect better.

Bento Box is your only option on the upgrade front currently in the mac range. You can get them refurbed.

I ran Dr Cleaner on my machine yesterday, it started shitting itself when I opened Logic X... Took me an hour to switch my appstore account to Oz but ten minutes after I'd downloaded it everything was hunky dory again...
I love my MBP...

The Ivy Bridge MBP (with antiglare screen) was the last proper computer they made.

Was wondering if anyone could tell me how easy it is to replace a screen on a iPhone? Dropped my 5s the other day and smashed the screen and not too keen on paying £60 for a shop to do it.
-
• #9621
£60 is pretty good... Apple would be 2x that.
-
• #9622
THEY STILL SELL IT.
Wtf.

• #9623
Just for the record, the Mac Pro is 1001 days old and hasn't been updated.

• #9624
It cost me £80 to get my 6 screen replaced by Apple. Worth it.
-
• #9625
so the anti-glare (?) coating on my MBP retina screen has come off in places - which makes the screen look permanently greasy and I hate it. Can just the glass be replaced or is the lcd stuck to it a la phones? can I do it myself?
