Hi Guys,
Hoping someone can help me out here.
Have an mp4 file on my Macbook Air desktop that is just under 16GB.
Have inserted a thumb drive which is 32GB
When I try to drop the file into the thumb drive (which is brand new) I get the message
The item “150729-0848.mp4” can’t be copied because it is too large for the volume's format.
Any advice gratefully received.

Your usb is probably fat32 which has a 4gb limit, go into disk utility and format the usb drive to exFAT.

Open disk utility and format the USB drive as hfs+ 'Mac OS extended' and see if that helps.

Super. I am trying exFAT first and it seems to be copying. If I have no joy with that will try Mac OS extended. Thanks guys.

Be aware that Mac OS extended journal format only works on Macs. So if you now try to plug the drive onto a windows pc, it won't read at all.

Yosemite 'WiFi hardware not installed' what am I missing?!
Googled it; most of links said delete and add WiFi connection in Network pref. Although in the add connection dropdown I can't see WiFi.
SMC and NVRAM reset also didnt work.
It was working perfect before 10.10.5I was so happy without Apple in my life ..

Anyone here running a hackintosh? My laptop are showing early signs of death, and I'm entertaining the idea of getting a hackintosh on the, relatively, cheap. Just been reading forums though, and it seems to be too much that can go wrong to be worth it. Or?

I'm about to. A couple of friends have had them before, Mac Pro type builds, monster machines that they used for work in their business'.

I bought one (which I just sold) of those Intel NUC from eBay. Worked a treat.

Do we have a windows thread on here as well?
Maybe I'm being thick, but can't find one via search.
Thanks. -

If you have the time and basic knowlage and are willing to do some research for, when things go wrong then it's defo worth it. A friend of mine at work is far more technical than I am (I am already above average) has juat built his 2nd and is happy with it, but I have heard him spending hours to get issues ironed out. Bottom line is, in my opinion, it's time vs money. I don't have the time, so I chose a Mac out of a box.

I can't wait for the new iPhone to come out, might have to join the mad and crazy this time to be relentlessly refreshing the apple web page to get 1. Very unlike me, usually wait for a few months but there is very little left between my android phone and a hammer.

Apple fan people are fucking crazy (and I'm speaking as a reformed Apple fanboy from the 90s)...

Reformed? You? Ha.
I must admit I am a big fan but I am not as mad as some who would queue up outside a store for any reason, I would rather wait.

Thunderbolt monitor, MBP (both essential for work) and Apple TV that I never use cuz it's shit... That's the lot... No iPad, no iPhone, no iPod, no iWatch...
If I could, I'd go PC... But I can't, I'm not that mental...

That said, they've been very good to me in the last few months wrt completely refurbing my trusty 2011 MBP...

I have always said the good thing about Apple is that they do own up to mistakes and after sale service is still much better than many brands. They do have more idiots than 'genuis' as they call their technicians working for them these days, but at least if they can't fix your machines they just give you a new one.

I have a feeling that the time needed will be needed exactly when I don't have it.
Also, I still need a laptop for on site work, so if my current MBP dies, I'll be looking at
Hackintosh: £1000ish
Macbook air: £1100ishOr just get a Macbook pro 13"for £1600ish and be done with it. There's talk about new processors early next year, so fingers crossed it'll live until then
