  • This may be more of an anti-Mac question, so sorry, but is there (or is there likely to be any time soon), a PC equivalent to a 27" 5K iMac? I just assumed there'd be something with equivalent or slightly better hardware available, probably at about 66% of the price, but am drawing blanks. Is there not a 'high-end' all-in-one market?

  • I think it's you!!!! Lol

  • No chance.
Dell sell a comparable screen for pretty much the same price as the iMac.
Get the iMac and bootcamp if you need windows.

Can they announce an updated Mac Pro and 5k display now please?

  • Nice to see they're still giving the ipad2 some love. Ours refuses to die.

Solid internal specs for similar dollar, depending on configuration. The only thing that it falls short on is a 5k monitor (but this is completely unnecessary for just about everyone in the world). The HP comes with a 2.5k monitor.

They also have a touch screen version which far exceeds specs (except for resolution of screen) for about 4 grand.

  • The HP seems a little overkill and would probably work out more expensive.

I'm a little torn with the 5k thing. I've never actually seen one and wonder whether I should keep it that way, get a cheap all-in-one PC or cheaper iMac and be happy. But then I think about how thought I didn't need Retina on my iPhone either, but now when I look at the old pre-Retina Touch I have for a music dock, it looks like a low res screen that's under water and covered in vasiline and I can't imagine how it was ever considered acceptable.

  • What are you using at the moment / and what do you use on it (what do you need it for?)

  • So El Capitan has Adobe CC sopport? @ExTra you might be in luck....

  • I thought recent years of OSX always have? It's either that or finally Apple and Adobe have come to their senses?

  • i use CC on my mac..

  • Apparently it just runs faster on El Cap. GPU accelerate all the things.

  • Wanted: Mac book, cash waiting. Many thanks in advance.

  • I can do you a good deal, macbook pro retina 13" 2013 512gb ssd for £1600?

  • I have no idea what I am doing, really, but it's this:

Run Windows in Parallels on my Mac, purely so I can run the Shimano e-tube software.

Whilst trying to install e-tube I get this message:

Now I'm guessing I could create this folder?

  • Does not work I'm afraid, and I can't actually find the start menu in Windows 10, so manually editing the Registry is a bit beyond me.

    Fucksticks.

  • If I remember, the folders that begin with \psf are Parallels linking with OS X, so that's your ~/Documents folder over a pseudo network kind of thing.

Could be you've not got the folder sharing turned on or for some reason it thinks that's the place it should be installing some of its files and it's having permission problems.

  • If you only wants to run 1 programme in windows, did you know there is an app called Wine that allows you to run windows programmes on OS X? Not personally used it but colleagues at work do and they seem happy with it. I don't know much about it so you'd have to google it. The icon of the app is a glass of red wine.

  • I'd rather get it working in Parallels as I've downloaded that, plus the Windows 10 Preview, a not inconsiderable challenge with my BT Broadband.

Anyone know their way around a Mac, Parallels and Windows well enough to resolve this? Happy to pay for your time.

  • I've used wine and cider for games in the past, it's kinda a wrapper for the software but works a treat.

  • We usually have cheap £200 netbook for such thing, could you not get a second hand netbook for the sole reason of sorting out Di2?

  • Fine in theory but it'll turn into a £2k Di2 netbook... ;p

  • I don't want another computer, I just want the one I have.

  • Sorry for sale post, but I've just upgraded my iMac's RAM to 32GB (late 2013 27") and have these barely used cards sitting here. I have used them for around 3months, no issues.
If anyone fancies 2 x 4GB PC3L-12800S-11-12-B4 cards (1600 MHz DDR3 as fitted by Apple) , I'm happy to post out for £25.00 for both, which is a lot cheaper than I can find on Ebay.

  • An excellent and thoroughly pretentious Apple Watch review.

    TLDR: it's crap.
