  • Edges, that's the fecker. I probably keep pressing Apple H in error.

Now my zoom shortcut in InDy has gone. So annoying. I've reapplied my shortcut settings but I'm not sure it's in that dialog box as the 'tools' setting just has a shortcut for zoom, but I want the quick zoom where you just hold apple+space.

Guess I should toddle off to a mac forum. Or Google.

    Cheers Jono.

  • Have you changed mice or something? The zoom shortcut can be applied to the roller ball sometimes...

  • I just want to say, I'm using my new macbook right now, and it's fucking ace.
    Carry on.

    Unibody?

  • Recommend a newbie an app for getting ipod contents into itunes library? Or can this be done without an app?

  • senuti?

  • music rescue

  • i use ipod access, it seems pretty good.

  • itunes backwards = senuti

Used to be the best out there (and most reliable).

  • Recommend a newbie an app for getting ipod contents into itunes library? Or can this be done without an app?

    Yep Senuti mate.
And I wasn't kidding about sorting out your wheel/s gratis dude, okay maybe a can o Red Stripe:-)

  • I'm going to try the free iWork demo for 30 days and see. MS Office for Mac can be had for £35, by the way.

Sorry only just saw this mate, educational discount? = zero? :-)

  • Have you changed mice or something? The zoom shortcut can be applied to the roller ball sometimes...

    No, I 'tidied' my preferences.
Idiot thing to do. Put the old ones back but still not working.

Such a small thing is serious effecting my work flow!

  • My inDesign's been playing up lately... Randomly disables zoom/spacebar shortcuts and then re-enables whenever it feels like it, we just moved over to CS4 on Monday and the problems easily cured with a quit/restart application... Wish the glide/zoom thing in CS4 PhotoShop happened across the rest of CS4 tho', it's mesmerising... :S

  • We upgraded to cs4 at my old workplace as soon as it came out, it was terrible. A few great new things, nicer UI, but the crashes was terrible. I went back to cs3 after a month

  • I've had CS4 on my laptop pretty much since launch, not had any problems really... The place I'm at has a pair of dimwits in the IT dept, most of the CS problems we have seem to be network related... inDesign is bloody temperamental tho', makes Quark look like the most stable app ever by comparison...

  • I always do a full Adobe sweep and delete and then install fresh new versions of CS, no issues. It can work with the whole upgrade path thing too (if you hassle Adobe on the phone enough).

  • I couldn't do the upgrade myself, IT responsibility so they did it, assume they just made a default install

and yeah, cs3 was still on my machine, that might explain some of the issues

  • yeah apparently dragging to the bin doesn't cut it any more. Full install meh. Makes a dif though.

My space CMD zoom has just returned after 2 days absence.
    Annoying but relieved.

And I think we're on our way to getting CS5 having bypassed 4. Whoot!
    Interactivity ftw.

  • bypassing 4 was a smart move. i couldn't be bothered to upgrade as there wasn't anything that would save me time working. 5 is a bigger step up productivity wise.

    just need apple TO GET A FUCKING MOVE ON AND RELEASE THE 6-CORE MACPRO SO I HAVE A MACHINE THAT WILL RUN IT {bangs fist on table}

  • Get a hyperthreading i7 custom build and 64bit to yo little hearts content.

  • Get a hyperthreading i7 custom build and 64bit to yo little hearts content.

potentially a viable alternative but i expect it would still come out close to the mac price. i would need 4 drive bays a decent graphics card (possibly 2 because windoze has issues with 2 colour profiles on separate screens) firewire 800 and 400 with enough voltage to power digital backs. fast bus speed/DDR3 ram (about 16gb)

i could probably live with using a PC just for photoshop but the capture software is not very well supported and is usually an afterthought as all the dev time goes on the mac version.

  • None of that's a problem but it's gonna cost you 5, maybe even 6 pounds.

  • My 2 months old iMac, last night:

Yes, that was my internal 320GB HD.

  • Ooooof. Sorry Nuno. At least it's not 13 months old. Take it to an apple store and get a replacement. I pray you've got a backup of all those pics of your panasonic hypercolour.

  • Please need geek help in here:

HSBCnet online banking can just be run with Internet Explorer 6/7/8 on Windows XP or Professional.
All the systems in here are MAC.

I have been already using Wine apps to convert IE 7/8 in MAC but it is not really stable and too slow.

I have suggested to my boss not to do a partition in his laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/ 4Gb) as it might give him some trouble and slow down the working flow.... true?

I have recommended to install Windows in a external hardrive/device, enough capacity-portable size, where to running from when need it. So he can restart his laptop in disk target mode and run Windows / Internet Explorer... is this right?

Has anyone had this same/similar situation? Help very much appreciate it.

    Thanks.
