I have to say that I got the i7 chip and 8gb of Ram. This thing flies! Love the boot speed too.

Now you are just teasing... think I might try and hunt down a bargain Retina Pro from on Gumtree... which isn't stolen.

I'm contemplating getting the 27" Thunderbolt Display for my Mac Mini.
Anyone have one who can talk me into / out of doing so?
I'm still hovering on this. I need to decide before April (obvs), but still not sure I really need one.

Isn't there an equivalent Dell one for less monies? There used to be for the old alu screens

Hmmm. I can't claim back tax so it's pretty spendy.
Anyone get a cool discount?

do you know any students / teachers / anyone who works at a university?

Unfortunately not.

Get a S/H one off Gumtree... you will not regret it.

13 or 15inch rMBP? I play games at times...
-
• #5612
15 mbp are so big and heavy, rather defeats the purpose of owning a laptop IMO.

• #5613
Yeah I'm kinda thinking that too...

I'm pretty happy with my current setup: 27" iMac at studio, 13" MBAir for everywhere else, iPad for meetings.
-
• #5615
Good set up... I'm not keen on 2 computers... might get 13 as I have an ACD...
-
• #5616
I've had to go the other way, 15" for everything atm, (well, + iPad for meetings). Which will expand when I've got the office sorted to ACD too so I've got something nice and big to stare at. I find it perfectly portable -–it's large, sure, but fits just fine in my usual bag , so no fuss over the 13. Don't really notice the weight, but will happily admit it's not as nimble to carry around as a MBA or 13. Seeing as I mainly have to carry it from dining room to living room at the moment though, meh.

OH GOD DECISIONS.

2 computers for the win. Actually it's 3 now.. but the old MBP is becoming a sort of home media centre thing to watch crap on the bigtelly.
I could never rely on just one computer, too risky.

I hate the organising... I have 2 atm... going for a core workstation- ACD with Thunderbolt drives then just plug in the MBP to work or take it away to travel...

And keep all projects in Dropbox...

Organising? Just set em up right and you're good.
Projects on DB, archive HD's and server backups, install apps/fonts on both comps, music on Google Play (or whatever).. job done. I've been running two for years, never felt like a hassle.

Anyone using a macbook pro retina for web design work? How do you find it? How do you deal with creating non-retina graphics?
Been reading online and it seems like half the people says it's shit, the other half that it's no problem at all

Is there a good non apple equivalent for less?

I initially bought the Dell Ultrasharp 27", same panel but the anti-reflective coating made it absolutely useless for my purposes... I sent it straight back and got a Thunderbolt... The Dell would probably be fine for Facebook and YouTube... At a push...
They are amazing. I have the older 24. Prob get one second hand though, new one on the horizon...
