  • Can somebody please tell me how to best set up a 10.5.8 Mac and a win7 PC to share files over Wifi through a router?

What sort of files ? A lot just use dropbox etc...

Otherwise you can enable a folder sharing on Windows and then use SMB to connect from OSX.

Google returns lots of results on "share files between mac and pc" I suggest reading them :)

  • Can anyone suggest a good alternative to iTunes for managing an iPhone? I just got a new (to me) phone and the version of iTunes I have isn't recent enough. I would download a newer version of iTunes but my mac can only run OSX 10.5.8 I think.

  • Don't think there is an alternative tbh

  • I'm running os x 10.6.8 and don't plan to upgrade anytime soon.
however the appropriate beta version of rhinoceros has stopped working and the new one is for 10.7 or higher.
    what to do?
is there a way to dismiss the 'unsupported' dialog at startup?

  • Longtime Mac user here but I don't really know much about the specs - I just use 'em. I've been offered a 27-inch 2010 iMac for £700. It's an i3 Dual-Core machine. Does this seem like a reasonable price? Any advice welcome.

  • http://www.mac2sell.net/ says that it should be about £720 so it's a fair price.

I estimated the ram / clock speed and HDD size.

  • Coo! Not seen that site. Tx for the info.

  • My mac is basically brilliant, except it doesn't like to wake from sleep much.
This is annoying, and I've done pretty much everything to try and fix it.
It is tempting that tmw they release a whole new line (probably).
But it is also tempting to sell all my apple products and go android or something.
Because, tbh, I no longer use my mac like I used to, and cheaper, smaller and less desirable might be a good thing.

    (although that macbook air....)

  • What model is it? Reminds me of one of the first issues I had with my 2007 mbp that had one of the faulty nvidia graphics cards.

  • I've found I the past mac2sell prices a bit optimistic. Check eBay completed listings, and you can see what people are actually paying, rather than a probable market value.

My flatmate has a mac that dpesn't support higher than 10.6.8 and had the same problem. Hes not unresourceful and he bothered the rhino support people.
The only solution he found was to set the date on his mac to 2012 before starting Rhino.

Mid 2010. Its been a nightmare recently.
    Behaving well today.

  • mad word skills, but ultimately pointless.

  • oooh ipad air!

  • well, i was considering begging for a new macbook for my birthday, and the retina just got ~£100 cheaper. hmm...

  • I'm always puzzled why cases cost so much ? $79, yet the device itself is only $399. How does that work?

  • No idea but that was a pretty good showing!!

    Free OS
    Free iWork
    Free iLife
    New iPad / iPad Mini
    Price for the Pro

I was sort of hoping the Apple TV would get a little love but maybe next time.

  • Yeah I'm gonna start the war with work again over an MBP. It was part of my move contract.... but they refused

  • £945 with my student discount. sorely tempted by the 13" retina

  • "I'm always puzzled why cases cost so much ? $79, yet the device itself is only $399. How does that work?"

Out of 90,000,000 customers you're the only one who question the logic behind that, that's how it works.

  • haha yeah it was like my Kindle.

    $69 to buy the Kindle
    $40 for a case ?!

Wtf, I'll just get a new one if I break it

  • "£945 with my student discount. sorely tempted by the 13" retina."

That's pretty much the only computer I'm using these days... £945* ain't bad, but you might want to consider more RAM and upgrading processor.

    *including £600 hipster tax

  • Come to me Mavericks.

  • hell yeah for 4mb/s download
