Whilst I'm not likely to buy an iPhone any time soon and theres basically no chance of me ever owning a phone that isn't either black or dark grey, the design of the 5C just makes me smile.

Half of those who commented are idiots. Pocket hackers, wrangling their little Linux/Android devices all day long, spotty twats with no social skills.

my friend has osx 10.4
is there a free newer version?
-
• #4684
Depends how old the Mac is - no point upgrading, because of the Flash support or its lack.
-
• #4685
I think I have something newer. Not sure which. Both retail and OEM discs (gave one OEM to Object).

The old PowerPC or the Intel one?
If former, 10.5 is the last PowerPC before it's intel-only.

its an intel one, is there somewhere i can download 10.6 for free?
or would i have got a copy of it with my macbook that i can put onto hers?edit - actually i have 10.6 install discs that came with my macbook. I'll need to back up all her stuff before i upgrade though, won't I?

..guess they're grey (as opposed to black) install dvds; will only work with macbooks like yours.

How is the c a mid range smart phone?
It's gaudy, and plastic!

Do they need to be exactly the same? Hers is just an older version if the same basic macbook as mine.

If I upgrade my MBP from 4 to 8gb will I be able to view the .gif thread without having to go and make a cup of tea while it loads?
-
• #4694
Not necessarily... I have a Quad Core i7, 16Gb of ram and a 256Gb SSD and it still grinds occasionally.
It's more to do with the bandwidth on your internet connection as you're downloading lots of heavy "picture" files.

Does anyone have OSX Mountain Lion install discs that I can borrow? I've an SSD to replace my failed hard disc but don't have the install discs.
-
• #4696

Anyone know where I can get a cheap copy of Office for Mac - cheap as possible. Free would be better though but unlikely for a legit version.

Do you work for a large company? Have you asked if you have access to the Microsoft Home Use Program?

£8.99 is pretty cheap...
