brighton guzzi, I'm planning on taking her down to the apple store, but her lack of computing experience, means it'd be better if she could have a play for a while, in the comfort of her own home, so she can take her time and not feel like I'm pressuring her into making my decision, rather than hers
I would lend mine but, as above, I really can't do without it.
Just force her to buy it and offer to buy it from her if she doesn't like it. That way, she either loves it, or you get an iPad.

can anyone crack my gf's iphone so it works with any sim card?
it's locked to
O2Orange and she is heading overseas for a while and wants to use it with a local sim...either that or a recommendation of a place to do this (preferably not a market stall).
thanks

Is she out of her contract?
O2 will unlock it for free - there is a form on their site or you can call. They may even do this if you are still in contract. -

apologies, Orange. she bought the phone from a friend and only ever signed up for the rolling monthly contract option.. So yeah, the phone is not bound by a 18 or 24 month contract.

I have a 2010 Macbook. I want to connect it to my shitty old (big) TV. It has an s-video input. Will it work if I just cable them together with apples dvi-video cable or do I need to buy a converter box. I tried googling all this but it left me more confused. Also, would I need to tune in the tv to the signal (I dont have the remote for the tv).

I have an aluminium keyboard with my 2008 imac and my volume controls are dying.
First the f10 mute button ceased to function (that was about 6-8 months ago) now the f11volume down button has given up.
I've tried using the keyboard viewer to see if the button press is being recognised and it would seem like it isn't but the viewer doesn't show the f12 volume up being pressed and it is still working.
I've tried switching the f keys to be used as standard function keys and then pressing the 'fn' button along with f10/f11 but that doesn't help.
Any ideas?
