  • I have an iPad 1 you can borrow if you like

  • cough, hard drive, cough

  • brighton guzzi, I'm planning on taking her down to the apple store, but her lack of computing experience, means it'd be better if she could have a play for a while, in the comfort of her own home, so she can take her time and not feel like I'm pressuring her into making my decision, rather than hers

I would lend mine but, as above, I really can't do without it.

Just force her to buy it and offer to buy it from her if she doesn't like it. That way, she either loves it, or you get an iPad.

  • cough, hard drive, cough

    still got it ;)

  • My dad loves the iPad 2 I bought him... Fucking loves it... Just buy her one, CornDog...

  • That would involve him spending money.

  • Just upgraded to OS10.8.1 - now I can't drag and drop in the finder! Argghh. Any ideas why?

  • without trying to sound patronising, have you tried just restarting, this happened to me once and restarting fixed it and it hasn't happened this, can't remember what i did to bugger it up though

  • try running repair permissions on your drive (google the instructions)

  • right, I now have 10.7.4 on my 2006 white macbook.
and the track pad is all backwards, how do I put it back/ change the way it works?

  • page no open..

works in firefox......but when I go to Trackpad, I have a different looking preference window??

  • link works for me :(

click the search icon on the menu bar (top right)
    type in system preferences
    click trackpad settings
    uncheck either
    scrolling direction: natural
    or
‘When using gestures to scroll or navigate, move content in the direction of finger movement.’

  • ah, got it.

    Ta!

  • I know what "system preferences" looks like and how to use it., thanky you :)

just that I was looking at "newer macs" and not realising, there was another option further doon.

  • no worries, i'll pm you my address so you can send me my complimentary speed wallet.

  • gimme your email address and i'll send you a pic

  • can anyone crack my gf's iphone so it works with any sim card?

it's locked to O2 Orange and she is heading overseas for a while and wants to use it with a local sim...

either that or a recommendation of a place to do this (preferably not a market stall).

    thanks

  • Is she out of her contract?
O2 will unlock it for free - there is a form on their site or you can call. They may even do this if you are still in contract.

  • apologies, Orange. she bought the phone from a friend and only ever signed up for the rolling monthly contract option.. So yeah, the phone is not bound by a 18 or 24 month contract.

  • I have a 2010 Macbook. I want to connect it to my shitty old (big) TV. It has an s-video input. Will it work if I just cable them together with apples dvi-video cable or do I need to buy a converter box. I tried googling all this but it left me more confused. Also, would I need to tune in the tv to the signal (I dont have the remote for the tv).

  • I have an aluminium keyboard with my 2008 imac and my volume controls are dying.

First the f10 mute button ceased to function (that was about 6-8 months ago) now the f11volume down button has given up.

I've tried using the keyboard viewer to see if the button press is being recognised and it would seem like it isn't but the viewer doesn't show the f12 volume up being pressed and it is still working.

I've tried switching the f keys to be used as standard function keys and then pressing the 'fn' button along with f10/f11 but that doesn't help.

    Any ideas?

  • turn on volume in the menu bar?

    use the wee remote?

    hoover your keyboard?
