  • we're scrambling around at work for any remaining Snow Leopards we can get.

  • you only need one dvd?

  • these are for selling, and also to be sold to Post facilities, so if they were to be audited they would need to show that they bought snow leopard for each workstation.

  • Need a small amount of mac help. My 2007 white macbook needs a replacement hard disk drive. I've got the old one out fine and everything but do I need any certain model or mac specific drive to replace it with? Obviously it need to be a sata 2.5" but apart from that? Would this one work? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152071

  • That one should work fine.... there isn't a specific manufacturer etc that is required for the HDDs or Ram in Macs.

  • Excellent, thanks

  • Unibody MBP. When inserting RAM into the lower bay should it click once or twice when pushing down? It feels like mine has two discrete stops as opposed to one definite click. Should it be one definite click? It also looks like the plastic clips aren't engaging with the notches of the module properly so the module stays flat/parallel (for a time) then flicks up a stop and unseats making my machine crash. Anyone have similar issues?

    Wrong spec (shape) ram ?

  • Wrong spec (shape) ram ?

How would I find that out? I've already given this hunk of shit back to Apple for a logic board, display and ram replacement (all been working fine up until now) so I'm inclined to think the ram is the right sort.

  • Does anyone know what this means?? This flashing is all I get When I turn on.

Fuck... I can't upload photos from my phone but it's a flashing grey folder with a questionmark on a White background.

    I'm guessing this isn't a good thing?

  • can't find the startup disk.
could be terminal disk failure could be something small like a permissions thing.
got another mac and a firewire cable? startup the sick mac in target mode and repair permissions using the other mac.
if the drive is clicking it's fucked.

try booting off the install disk you got with the puter, and running the disk utility...

  • Terminal doesnt sound ideal. Especially given that I'm in Australia... Mac shop 1st thing in the morning then.

  • just make sure you check availability of appointments for your local store before you go in to avoid disappointment.

follow this link, select your nearest branch, and click genius bar.

  • Didn't see the appt. message until now. Computer seemed to have revived itself this am but then died again, took it to the store on the UQ campus, was seen strait away and apparently the hard drive is fried. Still under worldwide warrenty so now I just hope they can salvage it and in the meantime try to remember how people worked before computers...

  • I need a new MBP, can anyone sort me out a discount? Looking at these specs...

    • 2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
    • 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
    • 750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
    • SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
    • MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display
    • AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook Pro

Apple Store says £2,614 inc VAT

    :$

  • Needed the portabilities?

Bear in mind that OS X Lion may not work with your current software, so double check that.

  • I need the portabilities, Ed...

I can get you that one for £2,392.80 inc VAT....

  • I was hoping to pay just over £2k so that I can claim the VAT back... Even £2k still seems like way too much money tbh...

  • TS why don't you get it with the cheapest HDD and fit your own? Likewise with the RAM.

Apple rip you off for those.

  • That spec for £1899 here in Hong Kong. Use difference towards a heavily discounted holiday!

  • ^ I'm with Spenceey... you don't need the extra 0.1Ghz on the i7 and then upgrade the HDD and Ram yourself...

    2.2GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
