  • hi, can someone help me?
I just got the cs5 suite on my mac os 10.5.8 and everything apart from indesign is running, it seems weird that for indesign it says the my mac does not fulfil the hardware/software requirements?
any idea what I could do?
    cheers!

What mac do you have, i.e what processor?

  • ordnary (old) white macbook, 2.1 Ghz Intel core, 1Gb ram

  • In need of some help, if anyone could be so kind.

So a while ago some pepsi max was spilt on my macbook pro (not by me), this appeared to have killed my airport card, so instead of pay £80 for a new one, i thought i'd just get a USB thingy for £20.

It's an Asus USB-N13, have installed the drivers, my router has all of its green lights on, as does the USB stick, but i need to configure the USB 802.11n thing at the mac side.
'802.11 n WLAN' comes up in Network preferences, as not connected, saying 'cable unplugged' - I have no idea how to make this connected so I can be free of the ethernet cable once more, any ideas?

  • 1Gb ram

lol my toaster has more ram than that.

    specs for indesign:

    Mac OS

    • Multicore Intel processor
    • Mac OS X v10.5.8 or v10.6
    • 1GB of RAM (2GB recommended)
    • 2.6GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
    • 1024x768 display (1280x800 recommended) with 16-bit video card
    • DVD-ROM drive
    • Adobe Flash Player 10 software required to export SWF files
    • Broadband Internet connection required for online services and to validate Subscription Edition (if applicable) on an ongoing basis*
  • Morning can anybody down save a indesign file for me..from CS5 to INX format? in the next 15mins?

  • yup

    email it to me on....

  • just installing the 30day trial... should work... i'll mail if everything fucks up... Thanks.

i've got your email if you want to remove it. ^

  • ha just read above.

  • cool, edited, just ping it over if it doesn't work

  • Anyone using Lion? Don't think I'll be using Launchpad and Mission Control much, but Apple applications: Aperture, Safari, etc do seem to run a lot faster than SL.

And the Andromeda galaxy is nice.

  • My Macbooks Hard Drive is almost full (120GB), I'd like to transfer the entire contents over to a much bigger hard drive, but don't want an external one.

What are my options, what currently is the biggest HDD I can fit into my 13" Macbook (about four years old), and how much roughly would someone charge to do this AND transfer my old data?

    cheers

  • Have you got a friend with a EX-HD you could borrow? you wont actually have 120gb of stuff to move as the installation/programs will be a sizeable chunk

  • Probably, but if I'm going to pay someone to install the new HD (I can be a bit cackhanded when it comes to fiddly screws and stuff) I might as well pay them to do the data transfer too.

  • I just installed Lion. Doesn't seem to different other than visually and lots of gimmicky (but mostly cool) things to do by brushing the touch pad like its an iPhone. Launchpad and mission control are fun and could be useful.

    Anyone found anything interesting/controversial?

  • it's just a software update, but one that you have to pay.

  • it's just a software update, but one that you have to pay.

Arguably yes but it is quite a big difference visually and seems to be better set up for 64 bit processing. If i didn't qualify for a free upgrade I'm not sure whether i would have paid for it but for 20 squids it is probably worth it.

  • HAHAHAHA Macs are gay!

  • Only joking. Fuck me I'm tired.

  • Anyone found anything interesting/controversial?

If you swipe right to left with three fingers, it denies the holocaust.

  • it's just a software update, but one that you have to pay.

a bit like going from vista to 7 then?

  • D.Generate, I repped your post, but I want to declare that I simply found the joke amusing, I am not a holocaust denier, I'm just a Mac user.

  • I wouldn't update just yet if your machine is for your work and you use 3rd party apps as there are plenty of bugs and Rosetta(lack of) issues.

  • Lots of things don't work with Lion, Microsoft word and rosetta stone I know of but I have heard of lots of others, so I won't upgrade for a while till they fix that!

  • pretty much add any 3rd party of any use to that list for the time being.

  • we're holding off at work for a few weeks

can anyone explain the lack of 'save as' and how it affects versioning of files?
