A thing of beauty… does it still work?
-

Powered it up earlier and it works, didn't make a note of the OS before I turned it off but looked like early OSX.
I've actually got a couple of older machines from my adolescence back at my mum's, an original iMac in lime green on OS8.2 and a blue slighter newer clamshell iBook on OS9-something. I occasionally get the iMac out when I'm visiting and play Carmageddon 2 on it

Having an iPhone/app issue.
Having a issue with the eBay app on my iPhone. It’s basically stopped giving me notifications on watching or stuff I’ve bid on until after it’s finished and sends a message saying you’ve missed this.
Restarted my iPhone. Deleted and reinstalled the app snd turned notifications on and off?!
It’s fuckin mad annoying as I haven’t changed anything on my phone and other notifications still come through.
Anyone else had this issue and fixed it? -

Don’t use the app? I find they’re often inadequate on the info front anyway.

Useless suggestion tbh as I wouldnt have asked if that was my answer

Cheersies

I think the app tries to be clever and tailors the number of notifications you get between zero and lots are depending on how interested it thinks you are in a thing.
No idea how to deliberately trigger this behaviour.

Whoever was following my chat for faulty butterfly keyboard as well as flickering screen 2018 MBP.
Apple replaced everything incl battery for free!
So people with butterfly MBP, dont be lazy.

Same with my 2018 vintage—I hung on until the failing keys were unbearable, on the basis that replacement is only a stopgap until they fail again… nice to have a free battery replacement though, and definitely get it done before the warranty expires. Took 3 business days over the bank hol. weekend, went via Czech Rep.

Can you post?

It’s a recall on the keyboard not even a warranty thing

You got a link to that recall?

Is it an ATT thing where you need to opt in to app tracking?
I think if you’re actively selecting to receive lots of notifications then the app won’t try to learn too much so not sure it’s that
Do you have all notifications on ?
You could also clear history and see if that helps -

Aglet beat me to it.

Good thinking as I thought that was it too, nah eBay doesn’t track for some reason.
Yeah notifications on, get notifications for messages, outbid on something and a few others just not getting them for items ending and bids I’ve placed ending.
Which is a shambles.
You know what though it’s not giving me them on my iPad too so I think it’s something that’s fucked at ebays end. Messaged there support but heard nothing back about it yet

Thanks, mine does this intermittently so I think I'll take it in...
-
• #18074
Any idea if they just replace the keyboard like for like or if it's an updated version?
-

I’ve not had mine done yet so can confirm but I have the same issues (keys and flickery screen )as Amey and he said they changed the screen, keyboard and battery!
I’d be over the moon if they done that to mine but I don’t think they will.
I also think the new MacBooks aren’t meant to be repaired and when they do strip them down it’s easier to fit new parts than probs put the old ones back with all the shit they have done to them
Does it work? What OS is on it?
