Why do you need to run High Sierra?

You could hackintosh a much cheaper PC laptop, or desktop if portability is not essential, but that is a path of high resistance.

Really tempted to build a Mac Pro hackintosh. I’ve no time for faffing about tho. Do you think it’s feasible?

@freddo Perfectly doable if you take the time to choose your hardware well, easy if you’re good at following instructions. Tonymacx86 has the guides and community.

Defo. But also defo faff. Also getting any Gpu now is impossible.

Have eGPU. Still, I’ve got an intel NUC with TB3 that I might repurpose to Linux which means I can try to hold out for a new 14” MBP instead.

What's the easiest way of getting files from a Windows laptop to an iPhone? I naively assumed it would be as easy as an Android phone (stick it on a flash drive or just plug the phone into the computer and drag and drop) but obviously you don't (easily) get lighting flash drives and plugging it into a PC only seems to give read only access.

A bit of googling suggests you have to install Itunes but surely that can't still be the case.

what kind of files? What's the use? Do you want to use your phone as a usb-stick or actually work on the files on the phone? Also, how many files?

Just a few gig of video files to watch on the phone, probably 20 or so of them.

I guess I can use Onedrive. Seems a highly convoluted (and slow) way to get data from a laptop to a phone 6 inches away though.

I use Android so clueless about possible apple limitations but can you run a FTP client on the iPhone and connect to a server running from the windows laptop?

I don't like the braided ones so much (they feel a bit weird), but the regular Powerline II and the new Powerline III ones (more flexible, plus some funky colours) are really nice in my opinion!
