  • Just had a weird network notification pop up on my the centre of my MacBook Pro screen and then disappear.

It was something like "Your connection to **** laptop has finished, enter the number below to reconnect" and then it had the usual Apple six digit device ID number. But, it vanished before I finished reading it and I didn't recognise the laptop name.

Anybody else have anything like this?

  • Airpods Max - £549!

They have to be pretty special to warrant that price. Can't say I like how they look, but hard to tell without seeing them in real life. It'll be interesting to read reviews

  • Something similar, yes. I changed all my passwords immediately. Nothing since. Might just be a glitch, but.

  • Actually not all my passwords, just the machine and my Mac account

  • Hope someone can help me this as loosing my mind over this whole day.

Yesterday bought iPhone 11 Pro (upgrade from iPhone X).

As always, I’ve set up the new phone from iCloud back up.

Everything went smoothly. All photos synced, all apps, messages, mail, setting downloaded.

The only problem with my Apple Music library.

I’ve checked on some of the albums. Some were downloaded, some had a spinning (download) wheel next to a song or few.
I’ve left it downloading over night thinking it will be all downloaded by the time wake up.

I’ve checked this morning, but most of the album were still stuck with spinning wheel and unresponsive (it’s not the internet, I download about 100mb album in 10s).

I then tried probably everything I could.
Turning toggle on/off in Music setting for “Sync Library” which deleted whole library and downloaded in Cloud option only.
    “Automatic Downloads” are ON.

Tried deleting and installing Music app aswell, but nothing turns on the automatic download.

Any advice on this? Really don’t want to manually click on each album from 75gb library of Music...

    Whole library looks like this:

  • Must be wearing masks selling you those. Robbin bastards

  • has anyone had a macbook pro with screen delamination issues fixed outside of warranty?
mine is late 2013 and it's getting quite bad now..
    thanks

  • Nah not if they’re incredibly good, then they’re priced sensibly considering other high end headphones.

If you want value for money get a pair of Grado sr60.

  • Im quite happy with my Bose QCII, they have lasted a good amount of time and only now are they showing a bit of wear and im a rough bastard with them.

I love apple but I dont think a lot of there stuff is made for long term, a £550 headphone Id be expecting to last for a long time.

  • Apple doesn't really want you to download your whole library. Normally it doesn't download any songs until you try to play them.

"Automatic downloads" is only for new purchases, and "Sync library" is only for the index, not the songs.

The workaround is to create Smart Playlists (on a Mac) that cover all of your library and download those.

  • That’s a good point. I have a pair of sennheiser hd225 that has lasted me a good 15-16 years and they’re still going strong. Potentially the best value for money purchase I’ve made

  • If they truly deliver “total harmonic distortion of less than one per cent across the frequency range – even at maximum volume” like claimed, then the price tag is justified considering the cost of high end audiophile headphones that don’t manage to achieve that.

    ....if

  • Well, that’s what I was told at Apple support chat - can’t download all music at once.

    Any reason why?

Also when transfering stuff to new phone, the downloads for whole library starts on it’s own.

I’ve transferred 2 whole library between phones two times successfuly prior to this experience.

    I just don’t understand...

    EDIT:
Actually just went to my playlists and I can see I have a playlist named “ALL MUSIC”, so I must have had this problem with last transfer but don’t remeber it.

Literally spend whole day looking at solution and nowhere could find anything mentioning the Smart Playlist.

    So thank you @grams

  • Saw them play last year, great band, awful name.

  • I've done mine (mid 2014) three times - without stress each time. Have had to take it into store and they've had it 7-10 days each time. They've always advised me to backup but never touched anything.

I would say that on the third time I had to make the case that despite the age of the machine, the screen had been replaced within the last x years and so should still be performing 'as expected' but they have always happily conceded it as a 'known issue' (there is an internal parlance for it which I'm sure will help your cause if you can find it in the ether).

  • It arrives.

  • Did you pay for the extra core?

  • Yes, I got the half terabyte, 8/8 core, 16 gig of RAM version.

  • I think I would have gone for that over the similar priceed mbp with 250 GB/16gb

  • Now I need to make sure that I transfer all the data off my MBP, all the settings etc. I did it before when the Apple Store reinstalled the operating system - but I'm buggered if I can recall how I did it.

  • Migration Assistant, or Time Machine backup then restore.

  • Experienced something weird this morning. MacBook is across the room closed, has been closed since yesterday afternoon, it’s charging. I hear the Zoom join call sound play. I then opened the laptop to investigate and when I did that, I heard the zoom leave call sound. Didn’t see the zoom app open but I thought I saw something quit when I opened the screen but too quick to see what happened. I did have a zoom call yesterday and may have not quit the app after that.

Anyone have any ideas of what may have happened...?

  • Macs have a feature called "Power Nap" (or "DarkWake" in some log files) that means they wake up to do admin like system updates when asleep and plugged into power.

Possibly Zoom was doing stuff when it woke for this?

  • How works writing/drawing on trackpad with stylus/pen?
Out of box or you need special app for that?
