got a 24" iMac at work, designing websites on that is great. My college has a 27", a website on that just looks like a colourful piece of bogroll down the middle of the screen
Responsive web-design is a must these days.

responsive web-design?

Basically the page resizes elements and rearranges them depending on the screen size.
The basic idea is that the same website can be viewed whether it is on an iPhone/Android, Tablet, Netbook or 27inch iMac and the website will function optimally on each device.

aha. see what you mean, on the other hand i don't think many websites* benefits from being much more than 1024 wide

thin websites are great for widescreen monitors because then you can put two or three on at once.

You're thin...

yeah, but i suppose a lot of people are in comparison to yourself, also i like the reinvention of the name maybe i should change to "F"
-
• #1513
Maybe you should just FO?

It depends ultimately on the content. I am trying to get this stuff considered in the 4th Gen Website at work, since we have a separate mobile site, it would be nice to have a well engineered solution that scaled itself up and down depending on the device and browser (older versions of IE).

Apple will continue to upgrade and whatever you buy will be defunct if you need to upgrade in a few years anyway.
Bain of my life for 20 years.Tiger is old btw.

I think yasi got the wrong big cat.
Don't those who buy a mac near the time of a new release of the OS, get a substantial discount on a new version? I always just nicked my disks of a friendly mate.

• #1521
pf - it'll just be a 25 quid upgrade.. TBH getting the first version of any Mac OS is a bit of a poison chalice. Snow Leopard is still buggy as hell and they're about to replace it!
Basically Yasi - buy it now. If they're bringingout new mbp's the gains will only be marginal and you'll probably pay a small chunk more.

Worst comes to worst ... you can still run Windows 7 on it ... ;-)

It's more of a thing for the 13" models, but the Sandy Bridge processors are reported to have far better performance benefits across the board.
I'm just waiting and waiting at the moment. My current Mac is dead, and barely does the most simple of tasks, but if you're spending £1,500 i'd want to know it would be current for longer than a month, and have the best spec possible.
There are no secrets about the new specs as it's so open in terms of Intels current movements, and you would be throwing money away if you opted for the current, stocked, models.

yer, 2 months is probably worth the wait.
