Hey people, in a bit of a pickle here.
I've absolutely smashed my iphone and it's not backed up to the cloud, does anyone know how I might go about recovering my photos etc if it won't register as being connected to a computer?

You could try and open them in image capture and download it from there if you have a MacBook.

The battery life thingy is showing I'm still at 90% so I'm maybe just imagining things...

My daughter downloaded an app onto her iPhone XR. It is an exercise app - 30 day challenge. When she opened it, she wasn’t able to use it as you have to press Day 1 to start it and Day 1 was not on the screen. It looks to me that the app screen is too big for the iPhone screen which may be a screen or app resolution issue.
Has anyone any ideas how to resolve this? Apologies if I haven’t explains this well - a screen shot would have been handy. -

Has anyone had issue with Apple Pay before?
Tried using contactless payments with my phone in the post office and Sainsbury’s local, it was denied multiple times in both.

Does it require an in-app purchase?
Highly doubt it's a resolution issue, esp on a XR, sounds more like a fishy way to get you to pay in-app for what you thought was free

Had a look on the app store for 30 day challenge apps and it seems like a category rife with scams. Here's just one example

The answer is probably a no, but is there a work around to make my Canon printer (ip4850) working with Mojave? I haven't needed to print at home for ages and so I have never reinstalled the printer driver since upgrading to Mojave... until now... Canon has decided not to develop their drivers for a lot of their printers for Mojave, at least for the time being.
Failing that, anyone interested in my old printer? It works perfectly fine and I know the printer itself doesn't worth anything, but I have at least 3 full sets of ink left probably some extra black, so cheap to a good home... (have to find out how much I actually have and how much is fair, but I do remember having a lot).
Or if anyone is interested in the inks, they are fairly compatible with a few Canon printers. Happy to draw up a list of what I have and sell them alone. Just want to get back some of the money...

I have the app on my XS. It works fine. And if you fancy a challenge it’s a great thing to try to get you off the sofa! This is my screen shot. On mine you can see all the days, on hers you can’t. It’s Jozic Productions.

No idea then, sorry. Are you both on the latest version of the app? Same iOS version?

I believe so. I’m not very techie but it has me rather confused.

Same here. Not very apple-y.

Do they not have some generic print drivers that work on the Canon website?
-
• #14091
Apparently not, I am not the only one complaining, there are a few forums of folks having the same issue. I mean the old driver I had been using the last couple of years were already a Canon generic driver.
If Canon doesn't have a driver for Mojave by now, I doubt they ever will.

@ExTra
I just ran a quick test - try this before the above as it should work- download the Sierra driver. Install it. It will get stuck half way saying it is not optimised. Hit ok to optimise, wait a bit then cancel the installer. It will continue to install
open terminal, type:
lpinfo -m
look for your printer, it should now be listed.
open printers and scanners. plug in your printer. under "Use" > select software
choose the new driver
let me know if it worked

Anyone had a battery replaced on a MacBook pro? rough idea of price? it's the non-removable type, 2013 model.
-
• #14097
Yeah. I DIYed a non-OEM one and it didn’t reset the counter in the OS, so still showed up as needing replacement. So I took it to a service Center. Cost about £150 inc labour and vat I think but worth it

Yeah looks like £199 from the apple store. Probably worth it for this machine.

Think I might need to jump on this ^. Tried plugging in mine last night to charge and no green light. I took the charger apart earlier to try the power adapter on my mums old white ibook thing. Seems like a weird coincidence as I can't imagine how it could have damaged the cable. Will try a pram/smc reset first. Anything else I should try?

If the green light doesn’t come on it’s probably nothing to do with the battery, more like the charger isn’t working. Are chargers even serviceable? I’ve always used 3rd party ones and treated them like consumable items, I have several in case one fails. If you’re running a Mac with MagSafe 2 try cleaning the contacts with a cotton bud and a little electrical contact cleaning fluid or alcohol (power off first).
Go second hand... I got an X for 550 or something from Musicmagpie.
