Any Software developers using the 2017 Macbook with 16gb of RAM?

Tempted. I hate nothing more than carrying a pro in my bag, i guess the new pro is in the middle of the macbook and my current pro.. but still

Nah. Bought the top one with upgraded ram and cpu. £400 for an extra 500gb can jog on though so didn't upgrade that. Got a nice 80fps on dayz last night on the LG 5K @1440

Didn't think of protecting against theft. Drive failure surely applies to an external used as time machine too?

There will be another external drive used to do a manual period backup of really important stuff which I will do for her- I'm mainly just trying to save myself having to keep reminding her to do a TM update, or dealing with the shitstorm (and 15 hours trying to recover what I could) that happened last time she had HD failure.

Very high I would think.

Tried the Beta and rolled it back. Never had a Beta so badly fuck my system. The file system changes make it much harder to roll back from than previous versions. I'll be using time machine and going for a clean install with High Sierra, if you've been installing over previous versions in the past you might want to consider this.

If you're wondering "how bad could it be", I had no text entry boxes for file saving after the update. Logic Pro X wouldn't function at all and more. Check online that any software you rely on, including Apple software works on High Sierra before updating.

Going to leave High Sierra alone until .2 I think... Will also do a clean install, hopefully without nuking Bootcamp.

My mum's mid 2010 15" MBP needs a logic board replacement. Is it worth fixing or is it time for a new machine?

Apple don't have the part anymore as it's so old so it would mean getting it done by an un-authorised dealer.

Need help on this one as well, have BT infinity and a smart hub, and GF is moving in, one of her big things is that the wifi signal drops off in the back of my flat (thick concrete walls) and so need to extend the signal.

For the sake of simplicity and being able to call BT and complain id get their solution.

I'm sure there's better options out there, but if you have issues getting online BT will blame everything they can on any equipment that doesn't say BT on it

Google is saying £830. I guess it's a reasonable amount off. Ehh my contract ends soon however I think the X is out of my budget and the jump to the 8 is not quite worth it for me. Might just stick with my 6s

Tempting, but I think I'll stick to my 6s for another year. When I upgraded from my 4s it was like night and day, the 4s was so slow it was barely usable. The 6s is perfectly fine, even if it struggles sometimes

Get a breakout box/docking station?

I dropped my 5s last week and the screen is smashed. Was willing to upgrade anyway but trying to decide between the 64gb 8 and a 128gb 7.

The 128gb 7 seems like the sensible option, slightly cheaper and maybe a tad more durable. I have no idea I need the wireless charging option of the 8 and concerned about the "only" 64gb storage option. Apps will get bigger, photo's and video's will have a larger filesize,...

It actually looks like I have my mind made up to go for the 7, but the 8 does look nice.
