  • Chrome eats CPU with loads of tabs. What if you stick to just a few?

  • Any tab in any browser will eat more cpu. Either don't have so many tabs open or reset your computer every now and then.

  • If you need a new phone but can't hold out, the SE is solid as fuck, camera is decent, and it's pretty cheap* too. Then just sell when 8 come out.

    *relatively for Apple

  • Err, haven't you guys heard of The Great Suspender?

    NOOBZ

  • The latest version of Chrome moves very close to this. It's now pretty aggressive about pausing everything on a tab that isn't being used.

  • I've found Chrome a memory monster on just about every platform. Especially so Android where it can eat up a gig of RAM without even thinking about it. It's a tough platform for anything not hi end/large ram machines.

  • Is there a way to cheat some kind of link to Google Docs/Sheets etc into the Mac OS dock?

It used to be you could have Chrome app launcher in there but that doesn't seem to be the case now and I'd rather just direct links to Google Docs even if it opens in Chrome or a browser. I have and use Chrome but can't figure it out.

I'm imagining something a bit like Paws for Trello but for Docs/Sheets etc.

  • Ah, wait, I actually want it in the dock so I can re-order with other apps, not to the right of the divider.
    Help?

  • This is 2017. There MUST be a workaround for this nonsense that doesn't involve Pages or Word or Open Office etc.

I expect answers on my desk in the morning.

  • Piece of pie with applescript. Copy this into the applescript editor and save it as an application.

    tell application "Google Chrome"
            activate
            open location "http://www.lfgss.com"
            delay 1
            activate
    end tell

  • Obviously, with the correct URL in the obvious place.

  • Performance related bonus for you.

  • Is there a magsafe to usbc charging solution?

I have 2 magsafe chargers at home, one in lounge one in bedroom, but im getting a new usbc macbook for work and would really rather not have to buy another charger to bring home and swap around rooms..

  • Maybe get the USB3 to USB-C cable instead?

Charge slowly but still charge it.

  • Anyone good with kodi?

When I open my hard drive connected to the pi kodi, I can see the file structure, but not the contents?

    Any ideas..

  • iOS 10.3 is out...

  • I'll swap you my old MBP and then you don't have to worry about this...

  • iOS 10.3 appears to have broken the 3rd-party adapter I use for my USB DAC. :(

  • Need advise, Ive got a 6 year old 11" MBAir, battery shot and memory full. Invest in a new 13" MBP or something like the XPS 13?

  • Wrong thread for pc vs mac questions I think...

  • Well more about have a portable ultra light device really rather than OSX v Windows, ideally with a bigger better screen. Think I've answered my own question.

  • Are you comparing those two?

If you don't care about the OS I'd go Dell unless it's made out of plastic and has a shit keyboard and trackpad

  • I know that's an Air, but still, that Dell looks more portable

  • Isn't the MacBook more portable?
