I didn't know Bryan Adams was a photographer. I look at him in a whole different light now.

I've met Ricky Furgusson a few times, and he's one of the most inspiring people I've ever met. He's always the life and soul of the party and he hasn't let his injuries slow him down at all. -

At NYE in 1999/2000, I was working for Westminster council. A mate in the recycling team told me that they picked up 15 tonnes of green glass (mostly champagne bottles) from the west end alone.

I grew up in a city that organises a carnival every year which also produces inordinate amounts of rubbish. I was always baffled by the newspaper articles that showed council workers pushing heaps of it with their brooms. This didn't remind me of that, though, I just liked the composition of the picture and how the different elements work together quite fortuitously.

Peter Dench realized early in his career that you don’t have to travel to the ends of the earth to make compelling photos; sometimes you can just take a walk around your block. Through this meticulous study of his own backyard, Dench, a London-based photographer born in 1972, has become a keen observer of the quirkier aspects of British life and human nature more broadly.
Dench will be presenting 20 years of work - from the barstools of Britain to the benches of Bulgaria - at this year’s Photography Show, in Birmingham, England, on Monday, March 21. Visit the Photography Show’s website to reserve tickets and see the full line-up of presenters, including Magnum photographers Bruce Gilden and Alec Soth.

A lot of great pictures here:
A 19-year-old woman attempts to save a tree from destruction during the eviction of The Chase camp at Newbury. Bailiffs cut all the branches from beneath her and she was left stranded without a harness at the top of the tree for more than three hours. The Sheriff’s explanation for the removal of all the branches was so that if she fell ‘she would have a clean fall’.

Some seem a little overdone on the PP, but really beautiful shots.

Cool article. I'm pretty sure Abbas shot from the Viet Cong side for Magnum during the war.

Wow, they look insane, do you think the elderly residents were 'plants' or really live there?
