Can't be any more risky than buying carbon bike parts directly from China. Can it?

• #7104
Is that a rocking chair commode?
-
• #7105
@hoops
I think we've gone for the same white metro tiles for the bathroom, same porcelain slate effect floor, and same dark wood/cream cabinets kitchen combo. I'm glad it looks good!
Can't wait till our bathroom is done, our floor tiles were laid yesterday and the wall tiles should be up this week too.

I got a quote from the worktop place recco'd up thread (thanks for that!) but it came in at £1,900, so I've gone for this place instead, which was £750: http://www.worktop-express.co.uk/
I'll report back on what how it all turns out.

You're welcome.

Also, did you make that kitchen yourself? If so, that seriously needs its own thread. Looks ace. How much are your services?

We used those guys for c. 10m of oak- it looks lovely.

^^not me, chap called Dan Borg, friend of Coldharbour. I'll send you his details.

Does he do general cabinetry things?
-
• #7113
Yep.

what's the vertical worktop for?
-
• #7117
Should make sense when the rest is finished - essentially the worktop describes a spiral around the kitchen, rising from the floor, running along the surface of the units, then going up to the ceiling.

• #7118
Does a worktop on the floor make sense?
-
• #7119
It's not on the floor, goes down to the floor- another vertical section
-
• #7120
Sounds ace, whether it makes sense or not.
What colours are the cabinets going to be?
-
• #7121
Going to leave them as is I think- they've been sanded and oiled so the surface finish is nice.
Pressure bonding melamine to the face of the ply didn't really appeal to me- they are ply, let them look like it.
The cabinets are hugely stronger than the standard 18mm kitchen unit carcasses.

Will the doors be in the same finish?
-
• #7123
Interesting, it's quite a utilitarian cabinet finish with a showy worktop, I like the combination. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished article.
Which walls and floors?

Will the doors be in the same finish?
Yes, it's all a bit "Rapha", if we don't like it then it'd be very straightforward to take the doors up to the paint-booth at the workshop.
I like it.
Tommm - Marmoleum tiles (black and white) on the floor, white walls.
Need to have a good think about the lighting.
Buying furniture direct from China? Would anyone go for it??
