No. The first three years are free of CGT if you sell your second home, then you pay tax on any increase after that, i think.

we have a young-ish eucalyptus tree in our front garden that i'm thinking of getting shot of before it causes too much trouble. anyone have any reputable tree surgeons on their rolodexeses? also, what tree would be safe to plant in its stead?

Have a thing for big clocks.
Didn't want to risk putting any of my expensive prints on that wall as the steam would damage them. Clock was obvious choice. It also lets me have maximum shower time without being late for work!

Cling film was used to wrap the cistern to avoid any paint drips getting on it!

Also, I think we have possibly the best tile guy in the world. He did our bathroom, and when we bought bathroom tiles, we also bought some new ones do the kitchen. Tile guy said he would the kitchen as a separate job in early Feb.
we were away for almost a month over Christmas.... Came back to an unexpected freshly tiled kitchen. Rang tile guy, and he said he 'happened to have a few days spare over Christmas, and as he already had the keys, he thought he may as well come and get it out of the way as a surprise for us when we get back. What a champ!!

@edmundro is a tree surgeon and did a sterling job of the giant tree outside my old flat in Shepherds Bush.

Amelanchier would be a good replacement, not too big, seasonal colour. Juneberries.

They are porcelain black slate effect jobbies from Tile Flair. (they look a lot nicer in real life than on the website)

I can.
the guy that serviced ours (granted there was nothing to do but give a certificate) was very good.
He's friends of dulwich handyman and does a lot of work for dulwich cycle people.
