This place is a bit like your castle, and its out building, love what they have done here with the long kitchen.

Looks much nicer than my place! I do at times wish we had somewhere smaller, as we really had to scrimp in the finish, to get everything done.

You could make one side a shower cubicle and then make the other side a toilet/basin? Not going down the 'room' route might make it easier to comply with building regs and gives you a bigger kitchen at the same time?
Then in the future perhaps add an en-suite? You have plenty of length, but not much width? But it's your space and definitely design it for the way you'll be using it. The coffee scenario sounds annoying!

I also edited the last post to include replacing the windows in a bay. It cost £5200, it was booked in to take 3 days, they were finished in about 6 hours, the windows were so stiff they didn't open, 2/3 of the parting beads were cracked, they had drilled in the cills and tops to attach them to the house, the sand mastic was terrible and there was nothing else around the windows to hold them in. Having now seen how they arrive from the joiner, I would just do it myself.
Also doing things over time has made it easier financially, but harder living in what was close to a building site for over a year.

Yeah, a separate toilet does make some sense actually, could actually have a shower room with toilet accessed from the gym, and then a tiny toilet with sink from the office.
A lot of the future changes will depend on whether we try and squeeze in a second bedroom, much easier if it stays as a 1 bed that’s for sure.

Given who and how its likely to be used I don't think it'll be hard to remember to lock both doors.
To be safer you could choose red/green locks and choose door colours to make the doors stand out.

Just idle thinking, but can you externally insulate and clad a single skin brick building?
I realise internal insulation is easier.

Yeah that must be tough, least you've got room for enough buckets to fill with your tears.

It’s certainly a thing. We looked into it on our house, pro was it obviously keeps rooms bigger, con was it was much more expensive.
Won’t be able to use on my shed, as will be keeping a bare stone outer.

Already been vetoed :/
I wanted one with structural glass and a sunken pond with rain chains coming down into it.
I am not the primary stakeholder for the kitchen project and we can't afford it either to be fair.

Ha! Catch 22 is that I can’t afford the buckets...

I wouldn't make a house like that but if it was already ruined I would be well into creating that.
Like the garden shot too, got a link to the property? They missed a trick with the doors though, 3 sliding beats 2 everyday...@Fox that's a shame, I really saw you with one and expected it really. Your refurb is going to really stress me.

Thanks! Quite into that... love the roof garden/terrace.
Also, that must have cost a fair penny, surely enough to actually afford to live North of the river?

Yes, but it's odd, according to the plumber that was here most recently. We "rescued" the old combi but put in a cylinder expecting to have the combo die one day and the cylinder serving the future loft conversion.
Currently we have bathroom sink hot tap off the combi with the kitchen hot and bath / shower off the cylinder. Rational being always hot water to wash hands in bathroom, but no cold surprises when someone runs the kitchen sink while you're having a shower...
Yes, I suspect that is looking most likely, my only fear is that I am in the office 8 hours a day, and given I am a middle aged man who drinks a lot of coffee, I will spend half my life getting up from my desk, walking through the kitchen and gym to get to the toilet...
I think when time comes to convert to a bungalow I would swap craft room to bedroom, gym to lounge, kitchen and bathroom make into a larger kitchen diner and then change office into bathroom, and smaller office. Hmm but then it’s a long way from bedroom to bathroom...
