I went to Leeds a couple of times from 1990-93 to buy records. It was horrible. Jumbo was good.
But the vibes were proper. And I was only in the city centre. -

Jumbo was awesome - the girl from my story Mix Tape worked there at that time you visited. Just a little connection!

Like I'd have spoken to a girl when I was record shopping between the age of 15-18.

A lot of my mates went to Leeds University in the late 80s/early 90s. I loved it, great pubs, lots of gigs, some decent nightclubs.

I was 17-18 when I was seeing her, but yeah, I get your point!!

The same. I have good (but very blurry) memories of the Cockpit and the pubs around Headingly. Also frequented Jumbo as well in the eternal hunt for rare US indie 7"s.

We’re in Chapel Allerton, which is fine (apart from it also being home to the kind of trendy that likes to call it ‘Chapel A’, or worse, ‘Chapel Apple’).
I’m not trying to stalk you, but whenever I read about your workplace, I keep trying to place it in my mind from the details. My best guess is Wortley, as my missus used to work down that way, but I’m probably miles out.

Sorry, I missed this post!
All I'll say is, you're not far off!
(taps nose)Chapel Allerton is lovely, though it used to be prozzie central! You chose well!

Also, here's another story from my early Leeds days. Hopefully not as bleak!

Ha ha! That would have been cruel of me!
-

It would. No Friday is complete without a Luci story.
-

• #4617
Nice and festive that one Luci.

Good one...as always. I had to look up "owt".
-
• #4619
Really? Have you ever ventured north of the Thames?
-
• #4620
‘Eat all, drink all, pay nowt.
See all, hear all, say nowt.
And if ever tha’ does owt for nowt then tha’ does it for tha’ sen.’
Hit Google translate... -

it used to be prozzie central!
Did it now! I won't be telling Mrs Radar that.
Whereabouts are you?
-
• #4622
Horsforth - very lah-Dee-dah these days!

^ I hear it's being taken over by writers and artists...

It’s actually a bit Brexit, in parts. Quite a lot of southerners getting a chubby over the farmer’s market too.
Gets on my cock end if i’m honest. Oh, and the fucking Christians like to stick their oar in too, and those deluded dickheads the Jehova’s Witnesses. To be fair, the local Catholics keep a low profile after that last priest turned out to be a paedo who they’d shifted from Parish to parish to spread the love, so to speak...
But other than that it’s ok. -

I get a nose bleed on the Piccadilly Line.
@radar I’m glad it helps! Where abouts in sunny Leeds are you camped?
