sorry to ask, but what is "SJoD?
Stench Jacket of Doom
An ancient and pungent grey Altura that just won't die.

Send it to Rapha. Crash damage - on them. Being a twat and tearing it - on you.
I think.

And for those who owned a Milwaukee and a Wax Riding jacket - how's the latter in comparison?

I bought a Milwaukee Jacket in October expecting it to freeze over like last year. It has been on the tad warm side for this winter. Like Fox i have been wearing it with a thin base layer and the zips undone.
I have to say on the few cold days I have worn it, it has really kept me warm and cycling in a downpour it has kept me nice and dry. I quite like the hood as its stops my head getting wet and keep the rain off my glasses as the Jacket does not look like a cycling Jacket it has been good to wear to the pub if I have cycled there or just around town at Lunch time.
If this winter was anything like the last two I would say its the best jacket ever but I think i will be buying a slightly lighter Jacket next year so I can swap between the two.

It would be improved by some sort of poppered strap to hold the hood rolled up, but apart from that it's pretty good.

I would agree with that.

rediscovered the joys of my Gore Paclite jacket this morning... Such an awesome jacket and a whole load more versatile than my Rapha softshell. Only thing its missing is some stretch in the back and some vents.

Any one got a good recommendation for a summer rain mac, I would love a Rapha rain Jacket but seems stupid to buy a jacket I'll end up not wearing much.

My £10 Sample Sale Rapha Softshell is awesome... Been wearing it all autumn/winter with just a t-shirt underneath... If it gets cold I'll chuck a merinho baselayer on under the t-shirt... Magic, 10/10, would deffo buy another one if I got a Rapha 40% discount code...
My lovely waxed Swrve is too hot to ride in... I wear that down the pub, v. stylish...

The Montane ones seemed to get recommended. This is cheap: http://www.trek-king.co.uk/detail.jsp?pid=5238&id=5280&src=froogle

^^ I don't have this jacket (I have a Krypton) but I can't recommend the brand and clothing enough. Great products.

That's a windproof jacket. The Montane Litespeed H20 is better.

I think that was in 2007
Actually, that was 1937.

i got a gore path II jacket about 6 months ago, love it.
not very breathable, but somehow going out in sub zero, only need to wear a t-shirt underneath.
bit gutted about the lack of hood, might have to shell out for the hood attachment, though convinced it will look gash.

By no means the ultimate riding jacket but have been enjoying my one of these and pretty good value for an e-vent jacket and a hood that can be folded away out of the wind

Is anyone using any of the bontranger range of jackets? http://bontrager.com/products/mens_apparel/jackets_and_vests
I was looking at the http://bontrager.com/model/09213 or the http://bontrager.com/model/09219 but wonder if anyone has experience using them in the weather we have had lately. Ultimately I only have a 20 minute commute so doesn't make a huge difference though when wearing just a tee i hate the feel of wet plastic on my skin....

looking at the Rab VR lite Alpine as a mid layer/windproof do it all - gets very good reviews - let's face it, this Summer ain't gonna happen is it?

It'll be along in October like last year

yep!

I've got one of these on order.
The hood doesn't disappear, but cinches down pretty tight (so I'm told).
