Thanks, will swing by tonight and have a look.

Maybe worth noting that Rapha are doing no quibble 30 day trials of their classic softshell at the moment. If you have the coin to layout for the test duration, it may be worth a bash.

Anyone had a look at the Barbor To Ki To collab bike jacket?
Tweed outer, warm inner, rain proof, storm skirt, all the usual nonsense with a hood big enough to put over a helmet.

Not strictly cycling jackets, but the carhartt store in hackney has rails and rails of outer layers. everything from windbreakers to full weatherproof stuff, picked up a nice one for 65 (everythings reduced!) and it does a good job.. worth a look if your nearby!

End of.
up to £100! ;)
I've heard it's great, just want to get some more options within budget ideally.

Nah - I can't hack a hood on a cycle jacket. Gathers at the back of the neck.....
I am a massive fan of Rab though.#dejavu
When raining or snowing hard I usually have the hood over my helmet. When not, on my rab there is a strap in the hood that allows it to be folded neatly.

Any body got any experience with the Rapha Paul smith city rain jacket? I'm thinking of getting one now they're down to £150, tried one in the Paul smith shop on royal exchange and it fits well, online reviws seem good.
Any opinions?

I've been wearing my Milwaukee recently, but unless you set speed to "Driving Miss Daisy" you run the risk of an uncontrolled China syndrome in the current weather.
At the moment it is in it's element standing/sitting outside the pub, not riding to or from.
I am looking forward to it getting chilly enough to wear it though, slightly masochisticly.

I'm the same with my Milwaukee, it's fine for very short journey where you don't ride long enough to get warmed up though.

Are the pit-zips in the Milwaukee any use?
-
• #340
^ fuck yes. like opening a window in a swedish sauna.

Just remember to do it before you strap your bag on, or it looks like you are trying to fight your way out of a straightjacket as you ride along.

Thought I might update one of my posts earlier on in this thread. I have the following: Montane Krypton, and am very pleased with it. It's in a similar vein to the Rab jacket posted by negaatio.
For me, I run really hot when cycling so a jacket doesn't need to be insulated but more a wind stopper and able to regulate heat well. It does both effectively, it also has a great hood which packs away very neatly and is tight on the head so helmet can go above or beneath it. The draw strings are really good.
Other nice features are a brushed inside to maintain warm if it's really chapping and the is a dropped tail which suits cycling. In terms of fit the equivalent Rab jackets fit tight on the shoulders, Montane is slim but with more room.

Zip broke on my old jacket so replaced it with this:
Was a bit wary about buying a jacket with a waterproof zip again because my Haglofs one broke after 2 years of (albeit daily) use but Rab are famed for excellent customer service (more than can be said for Haglofs) -

I had to send my Rab eVent jacket back to them twice for fixing. First time they fixed, second time they replaced. You could argue that there shouldn't have been problems in the first place but at least they sort it.

Best thing about rapha softshell is the bumflap. All rain coats should come with bumflaps if they don't already cover the arse, in my opinion.
Bumflaps.

i can't believe you lot are cycling in jackets that i would be boiling in minutes in, are you just pootling along? i have a gore phantom which is a thin softshell that works well for 3° and below but any warmer and a baselayer and long sleeve jersey or just jersey and gilet are fine, i tried a endura full waterproof softshell but would have to move to scotland to get any use out of it.
i guess i just run hot. -

I'm the same. Guess it's because I'm a bit fat

my Madison jacket has removable hood which is useful for rainy days, over the helmet.
Wore my Sugoi Versa jacket with sleeves off over a baa baa base layer today, was great for riding in, and I just popped the sleeves back on when outside and not riding.

p.s. the Madison is for very cold / wet only tho. Like being in a furnace any other time.

I sweat like I've been masturbating for a month if I wear any more then two layers for cycling.
I'm looking for the ultimate riding jacket and may take the plunge and exchange a limb for a bit of Napha.
Might call by and see if they have any. How long ago did you get it?
