I've got one of these: http://road.cc/content/review/169421-adidas-pluvius-jacket
£80 on Wiggle at the moment. I used to have a Pro Team Race Cape and I prefer the Adidas. Fit is very similar, except one size down (Rapha PT Large = Adidas Medium) and a bit longer in the body, which works for me. Quality is on par, both well made, nice stretchy fabric. Neither have ever let any water in. Adidas feels more breathable, but that may be down to vents. Both pack down to a similar size (small enough to roll up and stuff into a pocket, but will fill pocket and stick out the top, not like a Sportful Hotpack where you can fit other stuff in the pocket too).

Cheers man! Definitely worth considering - a little more friendly on the wallet. Sounds like the fit would work for me too. Jackets and jerseys always climb half way up my back :/

While we are on the subject of Arcteryx .. I need a warm jacket to pop out of the office in lunch and carry in pannier every day. Having waited for Rapha transfer I think I am going to take plunge and get Atome LT hoody. I have the uniqlo down jacket but the fabric is too fragile and rips easily. How small does it pack up? A stupid question; but how warm is it? Would you ride in one (to the pub etc)?

I've had an Etobicoke for 5 years, commuted in bag with it plenty, packs down to the size of small travel pillow, rode to work in it today, but it's reserved for proper cold days or short casual rides.
The cirrus is lighter, would probably pack smaller, Sastruga is bigger and warmer, wife wears hers most days but packs down less well because of the hood.

Keep the uniqlo at work?

Got my sportful r&d jacket on sale from wiggle. Just around 6 degrees this morning, and I always struggle to not get cold, but then heat up massively on climbs etc.
This kept me nice and steady the whole time with only one merino base layer under. Hands down the best piece of kit I've ever owned, although it might be a tad too warm for others.
Thanks for the tip @Smallfurry

Aaaaaand, I spoke too soon: Already ripped the pocket stitching after three rides. Back to wiggle for a refund. What do I get as an alternative?

Hydrostatic head - how come one Pertex Shield+ jacket is rated 10,000 and another is rated 2,000? They're similar weights so I assume they're using the same single layer of material. What gives?
vs.
I take it back. 2m = 20,000! So the RAB is actually more waterproof.
Do it; its pristine!
