went out to check the progress on our polo court in Clissold Park, as I do every morning.
saw this...
So they are using the space as a dumping ground for the shit they pull out of the ponds for now, building work has not begun. Won't be finished this year.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think I read something in the last issue of London Cyclist Magazine that you can apply for funding from LCC for cycling based activities. So it might be worth to check with them and if so apply and they might be able to help with some of the funding for lights or what not.

Has anyone tried to play at the court on columbia road?
I went past, and it was empty, looked a similar setup to Newington, and haz lightz

Columbia Road's alright for a knock around, but is a bit too small for team play in my opinion. Also: No seating/spectating bit and it gets used a fair bit for basketball.

anyone had a look at the park on copenhagen road? i passed it and didn't get a good look but it looked run down and could be a good spot for development.

I just thought it's a nice open area, and lots of people around when the flower market is on, you might get more people interested. I remember someone saying they had that sort of thing in New York and Paris, where lots of people will just walk past who wouldn't normally see it.

Fair enough. It's not like anyone says yes to using Downham/Newington etc is it?
Obviously it's undesirable to get on a wrong side of the authorities.

i think that the right representation (i.e LHBPA reppin') it might swing, but i was just trying to get a feeler out there.

Yes, I think it is John. There's quite a bit of liaising with councils.

They're renovating old courts right in the middle of Hackney Downs park and have so far put a cage around one court. If they redo the surface and cage the other courts we might be lucky.
It'll be very similar to Newington. (didn't see any posts for lights but it's still early stages)It's a work in progress that I've got my eyes on...
Will keep y'all posted.

2.6 miles to my house. Closest court by some distance.

The old basketball hoop posts are being removed as there are new hoops attached to the cages + an inverted goal area for 5 a side football.
So the court will be clean.
The old surface is terrible but as they're pulling out posts and have dug holes to put in the cage, I'm hoping it gets a fresh surface.
There's a possibility of 3 side by side or one single / one double.Fingers crossed eh.
Close by for sure.
those courts are MASSIVE!
