I've emailed Islington Council about Mitch lights and condition / care of the court and have spoken about polo in the borough, it's progression, and what's needed.
I have received a reply from the sports side of the council and my mail has now been forwarded to Noel Headon who is the leisure service facility lead.I have his email if anyone else feels the need to back up my mail.
Was this the guy Rik was speaking to?
Anyway, hopefully they'll get the lights fixed asap cause I mentioned footballers too.
That court looks great Gabes...

There is some development going on in the south east corner of Clissold Park. The gravelly football pitch has been fenced off and there is a digger waiting ominously in the middle.
If all my prayers are answered they will turn it into the perfect polo court and it will be less than a one minute ride form my house.

I walked past that yesterday, looks interesting!
-
• #162
Distract the project manager, switch his plans for those of a polo court and voila!
-
• #163
Or an overnight 60 minute makeover by the polo crew? I can operate a digger no probs...
-
• #165
"Multi use games area", finally, some recognition... we're in.
-
• #166
We should just get there early in Summer, take it over for the day, Clissold is ace.
-
• #167
yeh c.2 is right where the digger is.
true about gates locking and can get very busy.

this area is full of free thinking, fairly posh, cycling, guardian reading, parenting, dog walking, 'try-anything' wankers. so perfect for recruiting new polo players!

ha!

The side of that dusty old pitch is my special boule area!
I played there a few times last summer.
Sunshine, boule, bread, cheese, and beer!I don't mind giving it up for a 5-a-side and a skate area!
We need to claim it as our own ;)

Anyone want to try this? We've been here a couple of times. I don't remember what the thoughts were? I've never seen anyone use it.

I think you're thinking of one Ray found when he lived around there. This one is next to the Rag Factory on one side, streets on two, and an empty space (concrete park with benches and a few trees?) on the fourth.

the one next to the rag factory looks ace, i've ridden around it a few times, surface is good, walls are good (though i think one edge is banked a bit?), a good size, and when i was there someone was just coming to sweep it.
but, i spoke to one woman at the rag factory people about it and she said it gets used by the locals fairly often for football, and that the local kids hang around alot and things get rough-ish (fights and fireworks and the like). though i'm not inclined to believe her 100%; she came off a bit prejudiced. maybe it was hear-say and stereotypes?.

I think it's worth a shot? We'll never know if we don't try. And football isn't a high priority for most people this time of the year.
Dove - When I say Sketchy, I mean it. Mitch is a little unpleasant at times. It is not sketchy.
As for the brick. That was in daylight, can you imagine what would be done under the cover of darkness?
I was looking for courts for the Euros when I scoped all of these so I didn't look for lighting I'm afraid.
Also, Dogfight is a fun broadway type court rather than a serious polo ground.
