I have a vertical stand up socket tower that has most things plugged into it.
All the hifi stuff is plugged into a separate 6 socket power conditioner.
And there is another overflow 4-bar for good measure.
It's a fucking mess.

Ah yes, I forgot the HDMI switch. For Raspberry Pi and the like I'd recommend one of these
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-PowerPort-Family-Sized-Technology-Smartphones-Black/dp/B00PK1IIJY
Mine has
Raspberry Pi
Chromecast
Amazon Fire Stick
Tablet stand
Harmony RemoteAll plugged into the one which saves some sockets.
I think server power strips may be a bit too wide, I was hoping there'd be some neat solution that I previously hadn't considered.
I think I'll have to look at reorganising it all and maybe moving my HTPC into another room to make space.

Call the fire brigade!
Is this something I should actually be worried about?
-

Have you fired them up yet?
15 minutes ago. Am sitting here with a big grin. Absolutely lovely. Kids are asleep so pretty quiet stuff just now. Trying out roseland NYC live by portishead as I know it inside and out. Incredible clarity. I'm not spoiled though. Used to a crappy compact setup.
Also the pots in the amp need spraying with something, left channel much louder than right.

That's a rats nest as any biologist will tell you!

What I've done to make the studio wiring work is Wiska boxes with wago connectors in and a 13amp socket connected. It cuts the size of a 5 way adaptor down to a single gang plug socket. I am a qualified electrician though so I've done the maths regarding current draw etc.
It only really works for stuff on figure 8 or iec connectors though, can't do wall warts.
Shortening cables where possible is a good start too.

There are limits to how many sockets an electrician will put on a wall as they have to concern themselves with what happens if you plug a 3 bar heater into each one!

When we had the house rewired, I got the sparks to put in a separate ring for the hifi.
He thought I was nuts.

This needs some work.
Last time I added it up the power draw wasn't too bad, only the amp and TV use much but I should probably check again.

This is like a 'show your rats nest behind the tv' thread... There should be an after photo to quell those with ocd.
-
• #5896
This is mine... I'm actually getting a build in cupboard built to hide it all. I hate wires.

Me too. I’m relatively tidy (not OCD) with cables and power but this is upsetting.

A friend of mine is a member of a Vinyl Group. Like a book group but they take three tracks, on vinyl, to each others's houses in turn and play them and chat about them.
Now, I'm a digital only kinda guy, but I think that the concept would still work. It'd be a cool way to listen to other people's setups, find new music, ride bikes around London and generally be social.
Is anyone interested in getting something like this together? I am.
20 plugs!?!?
