There are tubes in my headphone amp methinks (MF Xcans) that I think can be upgraded. I will look into it one day.

also it has a blue light.
I've got a NAD C320BEE amp and a set of Atacama 40cm speaker stands for sale in this thread if anyone is interested. also a set of B&W CM2 speakers which I am considering parting with.
They form the basis of a half decent budget-fi.

A mate has a project genie 2 turntable for sale anyone interested? Think he wants £80 knowing him probably never been used just taken out of the box.
No idea if this is the best place or to stick it in classified but really a case of damned which ever way.

Can anyone recommend a good entry level CD seperate? My 15yr old Marantz CD46 is beyond repair, so I'm looking to replace with something of similar spec. Back then I paid £150 ish for that... owt I should grab quick in the likes of Richer Sounds / Superfi / online?
Edit - if anyone's interested (as that's the point of the thread, and I don't think I've posted in here before) the above Cd deck has been mostly paired with a Rotel RA930ax amp, and B&W302's on Atacama stands since new, also got a Denon Tuner for radio waves and a Project Debut Mk2 turntable.
Occasionally use a C.A. cheapo amp, and Goodmans Magister Speakers depending on room setup, but they've mostly been paired with some cheapo numark TT100 turntables & mixer for wannabe dj'ing.
All fairly low end stuff but good enough for my ruined ears.

An option, what's new and useful at the low end though? CD equivalent of Project Debut would be nice!

Cool, will keep in mind, thanks. Keep suggestions coming please...

My Tannoy Monitor Golds are sounding a bit off. Not too sure what the problem is, might need to replace the crossovers or it could just be a loose cap. One of them is sounding a bit scratchy at higher volumes.
Anyone know any hobbyists/amateurs that would take a look at them?

My Marantz record player has started playing slowly. Its belt drive. Is it dead? Worth repairing?
-
• #375
belt probably needs replacing - they stretch/deteriorate over time and then slip/struggle to keep the speed up. Some decks allow you to move the motor slightly to take up the slack.
ahhh, i wouldn't read too much into that. those electro harmonix branded tubes show up in just about every new tube amp. they're not really in indication of quality of the rest of the kit. i'm sure they're fine in that context anyway. i'm just being ultra picky. i don't know much about anything but just happen to have wasted large chunks of my life obsessing over tubes...
