Just looked on that site for retro stuff. Noticed the Pioneer I used to have when a student, flogged it to buy weed ... doh!

  • Heybrook turntable now on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120553072375&rvr_id=&mfe=sidebar

although my offer above still stands for anyone from the forum :)

  • Wrapping our technology with a quality form” — it is the kind of product we have long wished to make. “22”(tu:tu:), our new hybrid amplifier, is IT, and has finally been brought to a reality through collaboration with Mr.Koichi Futatsumata. • reminds me of:

  • i am suprised they put a tone knob on it

  • never been entirely convinced by the use of a token tube in otherwise ss designs. need to read more.

i'm not an audio expert but i am a bit of a guitar valve amp snob (have spent thousands on nos military grade tubes over the years). it seems funny to me that so much importance should be placed on the tube element of a design and yet they show it with just about the lowest grade cheapest modern tube available.

then again i imagine in that context the tubes will have a relatively cushy ride compared to the beating they'd take in a guitar amp context.

it does look very cool though.

incidentaly, if anyone is need of tubes i have a large stock pile of nos european, russian and american goodies gathering dust in a trunk at home. i have 6l6s, 6v6s, various big bottle rectifier tubes and scores and scores of nos and used 12ax7s (as shown in the above pic).

  • KT66 please

  • Wow this is getting well autistic.

  • KT66 please

i'll see what i got mr that. get back to you tonight.

you ain't seen nothing skullychops. i used to spend hours on here:

    http://www.watfordvalves.com/home.asp

    reading this stuff:

    http://www.watfordvalves.com/reports.asp

  • yet they show it with just about the lowest grade cheapest modern tube available

could they be replaced with better gubbins?

  • sure! these are the same price (£12 each) and are much nicer. european made, thicker glass, tested and rated.

  • so if a pair of £12 a pop tubes will be better then those used originally, should one wonder what else they saved money on?
