Hi - much noobness ahead, so please bare with me... I've recently inherited a bit of vinyl & I'd like to make the most of it.
My current set up consists of a Denon DM39 & a pair of Dali Zensor 1s which are sat on an Ikea TV unit. I'm guessing this isn't ideal and a set of speaker stands would be preferable? I've noticed the sound is fine, but nothing special and I'm guessing my speaker placement is probably to blame.
One of the speakers has a rip in the foam on the bass driver - I've found this on ebay. Would it be easier to replace the whole cone rather than try to repair it?
Thirdly - thinking of getting a second hand Rega RP1 or refurbished Project
Essential II depending on what comes up first. Do these sound about right to fit what I've got currently? Thanks.

The speakers should benefit from stands and placement and, if you're thinking of putting the turntable on the t.v. stand, they shouldn't be on the same surface if you can help it.
I've never repaired a speaker cone but I'd be more inclined to replace if that's more practical. (Possibly even replace in pairs if you believe in running in although you're probably into the realms of complete second hand pair by then cost wise.)
The Rega RP1 or Project Essential are good turntables and either are suitable and should sound great.
(You might need a phono pre-amp though.)

Got married 2 weeks ago. Second time around and me and the new Mrs have most of the things a couple could want (including 5 kids!).
Anyway - tackling the wedding gift issue and not wanting yet another spiraliser set we suggested folks give us a vinyl album from their personal collection, from a charity shop or as a last resort a new pressing. Wow! What a good idea that turned out to be - no dupes - much Bowie - N Soul - Talking Heads - Stevie W - and the list goes on - 70 plus albums that mean something to the giver and to me and my wife. Just in case you're thinking of tying the knot................ -

^ Excellent idea.

Foam replacement is one of the most common repairs to speakers, no need to replace the whole driver.

Thanks @johnnyhotdog... I'll grab a replacement cone. I'm guessing all I need is a soldiering iron - what could go wrong.
Open to suggestions on speaker stands if anyone has recommendations? They all look pretty ugly & overpriced on richersounds/superfi

I just bought a preamp with no power supply, thinking it would be easy to find one.
Any bright ideas where to get an AC 16v 200mA barrel Jack PS?

A laptop charger would do?
Loads on ebay:

I dont no if a charger has the same properties as power supply. I dont know much about electricity

Seems there have been quite a few variants with different PS. This suggests maybe you have a "phono box original" and need to 16v 500ma wall wart?

Should be fine. I've got a laptop charger running my spare room tripath amp with no complaint. As long as the output is as specified.

Can I get a decent set of over ear closed back headphones for about £60? For use in an office so noise cancelling would be a bonus to dull the hum of PCs.

Define decent? If you really want to isolate sound I suggest some in-ear monitors as they completely isolate you. Decent ones are very comfy and will sound good enough.
If you want decent (depending on your definition of decent...) then you'd be better spending around £100 for something like this. -

So, Rogers stuff (early Ravensbrook stuff) - it's low wattage, but Rogers speakers would be worth it non?

Right, I hate it when people barge into threads just to sell stuff but, er ... that's exactly what I'm doing here.
In an effort to upgrade/simplify my system I'm about to buy a PS Audio Sprout and a pair of Dali Zensors to replace my old Nad system. Does anyone want my old stuff? Consists of a Nad C320Bee amp, C521Bee CD player, Mordaunt-Short MS904 floorstanders and a Pro-ject PhonoBox II turntable pre-amp. I'm certainly no audiophile, but it's always sounded pretty sweet to me.
£180 for everything, donation to forum (do people still do that?) included.

Lovely amp and CD player combo there. I'm not in the market but if you are, pay attention.
I need some wall mount-able speakers for my zone 2 / kitchen. <100w, <£100, prefereably white. Do these look like decent value?
