The problem with big Weirs is the phenomenal undercurrent. I know a good surfer who got into a load of trouble on the river Exe where he was ragdolled for about a minute before being spat out downstream. He couldn't paddle back to shore due to a dislocated shoulder and was pulled out by two other guys about 400m away from the weir.

Yeah you have to be very carefull, some will certainly kill you and surfers dont generally ware a bouyancy aid which will help you float if you get into dificulty, the bitches in pembrokeshire although in the sea is an awesome standing wave.

Now, imagine every week, twice a week, instead of your bike ride, or footy... you get on to do this, say... in Central London. Fucking WIN!

The whole set up for that Rip Curl shoot is phenomenal. Something like 50 cameras used.

Good decision, make sure your going with people who are experienced and have all the right equipment. It's an awesome way to see the coastline.

i am hatching a plan for June 2013 to sail from lymington (solent) via brest, bay of biscay, straits of gibraltar, ibiza, then four days partying hard at Lions Cannes Film Festival then sail back,
that's got to be more fun than cycling across the alps again... :))

Where?
No idea, i decided yesterday i want to be on the water again. I used to paddle on rivers, never done open water so very keen to. Maybe do the med somewhere. -

it started as a chat in soho with head of production of a film company a month ago.. but it really needs to be a two boat race if it's gonna have any meaning, right.. after a few days ocean sailing, the thought of dropping anchor off the cote d'azur, diving into that crystal clear med water, drinking solidly for four days in party town has a certain appeal..

If your interested in paddling whitewater again get yourself to lee valley white water centre, I stopped for about 4 years but have been going a couple of times a week for the last couple of months although I have only been paddling the legacy course which is about grade 2/3 but plan on doing the assesment for the olympic in a week .It's an awesome place and you can hire all the kit you need from brookbank canoes which is over the road for £10.

Swan 45?! Awesome. You'll need a few handy guys though, that's a powerful boat.

Went sea kayaking in the Stockholm archipelago a few weeks ago. Thousands of islands, loads deserted like this one (we decorated).
Cooking on fires, general manly shit + sunsets - highly recommended.

Also dibs on crew, still young and crazy enough to go nb1
If not, tell us when you arrive in Cannes, I'll join you on my little 6.50 sportboat and race you to the isles -
