The Pearson? if so yep. Does it work now?
Really about the mast?
I've been away from sailing for ages. Might be a nice summer project to finally accomplish getting that boat fixed up, and go out on the thames with the damn thing.(its not technically my boat either, but my Dad's)

if it is true, I'll rig her up and give you a shout.

Awesome! I don't know what is involved in getting her setup, but if you need help, I can lift things pretty okay.

The Pearson is such a peach. I've been riding it daily now for more than a year. So quick, you wouldn't believe. I clocked 44km/h the other day with my daughter. Have a look at the video 1940s Tandem Cycling - GPS Tracking on Vimeo
Regading the mast - of course it's not true. I've got nothing to do with your dad's boat or the mast ;-) If you want to sail - just turn up on weekend and hire a boat. It's 5 quid for a Laser/Solo or 10 pounds for 2 man dinghy.

can I see a pic of the bike?
also - I guessed as much.
I'd much rather get it fixed.
Its a nat 12, which are lovely boats to sail in.whoreRatio- will let you know. Need to get dad to go talk to the people at Ranelagh.

I'll take a picture and will post it. It still has the same wheels and the only visible difference are the brakes and Brooks saddle for the captain. I also moved the fore/aft adjustable seatpost to the front as the frame is slightly too big otherwise. It's so quick, you wouldn't believe. Never been overtaken on the road. Obviously, would be faster with a smaller cog, but wouldn't be able to climb hills

ahh- i've moved to nottingham, so unlikely to be on a forum outing for a while.
good luck going to windsor.
Whoever is your riding partner must be good to ride with, as my tandem experiences didn't play out so well! -

SoperRiva - have you ridden with the Nottingham Guys yet? Its something I used to be a part of when i lived in Notts - usually ride long on (30/40 in the country) on a Monday and Short (10/15 with pubs) on a Weds night... Plus the odd weekend roll...

also, this:
I've applied for a crew vacancy, for when I finish my boatbuilding course. exciting stuff!
Seeing this thread on the first page reminds me: I qualified from the International Boatbuilding Training College, with a distinction, and I'm now the ship's carpenter onboard this boat (Creole, the largest classic sailing yacht in the world!), and the accompanying 60ft racing boat, from 1896, Avel. Both boats were built by Camper Nicholson in the UK (Gosport). I've been out in the Med (living onboard) for just over a month now, and it's completely amazing. Seeing as I've grown up on boats, sailing and working anyway, I couldn't ask for a more perfect way to make a living and see a bit of the world!
There aren't many full time ship's carpenters positions left in the world, as there aren't many boats of this caliber still sailing, so I feel really privileged to be working with this amazing boat. As you can imagine, the work is really non-stop, and there are always things that need repairing etc. It's great fun though! -

Going to be going to be moving to London for uni this year and would love to get involved in some sailing!
Anyone got any advice? -

The lee valley whitewater centre should be open in a week or so, any kayakers or ex kayakers fancy heading over, I can drive and am a fairly confident kayaker although I havent been for quite a while. I will probably mess around on the intermediate course for a few hours to get some confidense back then hit the advanced section which is meant to be fairly pushy.
i didnt think it was properly open until after the lolympics.
i know a few people on here who would want to get in that. if you fancy kayaking, the club we work at (laburnum boat club) is just off kingsland road. should be a few trips being booked for summer. plus paddling every weds night if you fancy it (just on the canal to keep things ticking over) -

Cheers, I'll have to track those down!
Forgot to mention I can actually sail, I go with 6th form atm and have done seamanship+racing awards.
Any Idea if UCL or ULU do any?
Apparently they've bought you a new mast and there's an envelope stuffed with dosh left with the Commodore for you. Are you the person who sold me that lovely track tandem?
