Surely you just want any old mechanic to do it? Angle grinder to put on some new flat surfaces, then a spanner.
-
• #778
I will do it for beer! Easy life

Anyone intersted in a Suntour XC Comp MD chainset in decent nick? Weighs about 685g on my kitchen scales, 42-32-20T, 175mm arms. Tapers and threads in good condition and comes with original shiney dust caps. After £30 for it...

-
• #790
In Norwich all week, city center - can meet you somewhere.
-
• #791

Also, seatpost now sorted
-
• #792
Yep, will be in this weekend - although I'm out in Brundall.
-
• #793
Does anyone have the tools or the means of helping me fit a headset? I don't really want to order it online and then take it in a shop and have them fit it, not even sure if they'd do that.
-
• #794
I can get my hands on a press. Or just use a mallet/ hammer amd a block of wood. Also a vice will do it.
-
• #795
Would that be ok with carbon forks though? The frame is steal.
-
• #796
I've used a mallet/hammer on old frames before - no way would I do it on a new frame though.
-
• #797
Washers, 2 nuts and a piece of of threaded bar/m10bolt etc.
D.I.Y headset press for less than a tenner.
-
• #798
Just what I've gone and brought on my lunch :) :) I've only got 1 washer at each end but should have got more really.
Now I just need something to take the headset cups out.
-
• #799
Tried that way before with the homemade press - was probably just me but was a complete ball ache.
Spence - I've just bought a proper press and remover. Should be here on Mon/Tues if you can wait. Swing by and I'll sort it out for ya.

prezet are you sure man that'd be awesome!!
I've just gone and brought the DIY bits, less than a 10er you say? Less than £2 in my case!!
I'll order the new headset (FSA Orbit XL) where about's do you live? Do you think we could have this replaced in one evening?
The only bike places in city centre are shit - Halfords and Cycles UK. I'd go see Specialised (map link) but give them a shout first, they're always busy but I'd think they'd fit a job like that in.
