Yeah, which sucks. Don't have a car so that's a couple of hours commuting on crappy trains for me.
-
• #478
Is it in your contract to just get moved at the drop of a hat?
-
• #479
Also that commute is going to suck,no riding time at all.
-
• #480
Unless you ride to work but that's like 20 odd miles from centre isn't it?
-
• #481
28 odd miles from the centre to cromer.

We did a Cromer ride on a Friday night a while back. I think took 1 hour 20 mins to get there. Might be a bit much every day though.
Spenceey - I still have an A head stem for sale, if your interested: http://malbuc.100webcustomers.com/benpics/forsale/bikeparts.htm

Cheers chap what size bars fit that bmx stem?

BMX Stem: 22.2mm
Bontrager seatpost is 300mm long. The black finish has been scratched off on most the back.
-
• #487
Yeah. The other option is to get a car, but they're expensive and polluting.
-
• #488
Mark, got a stem thanks. What size are bars? 25.4? How big's the rise and how wide are they? What colour are the grips?
-
• #489
You could pick up a car for under 2k Sparky, just depends if you really want to though I guess.
-
• #490
Cromer, that's a bummer innit. You can a passable car for a grand but MoT, VED, insurance and fuel stack up fast.
-
• #491
Get a moped! Trains gotta be big bucks. How much of your expenses do they cover?

They are 25.4. Dunno about the rise and width but will meassure them an post pictures when i get home. The grips are black "mushroom" style bmx grips (like ODI Longnecks) and brand new but have had the flanges removed. They come with a short reach SR stem, as i cant be bothered to remove the grips!

None.

They shouldn't cover the costs of you getting to work.
-
• #495
Thats shit man. When i used to get moved to Cambridge, all expenses were covered. How much will it cost on a weekly basis? Think you can claim the tax back in April!
-
• #496
Unless It's in your contract that you can be moved office at any time.
Also if you are designated to one office but asked to work in another now and again you can claim that on expenses.
-
• #497
Did they give you a reason? Seems a bit mad. Is there anyone you could car pool with to give them petrol or something? anyone else going out there?
-
• #498
They periodically move juniors around. It's just a thing they do.
-
• #499
Scooter would probably be the cheapest option but it's not going to be significantly quicker than bike as they only do 25-30 mph.
You can pick up an old banger car for couple of hundred quid and then when you don't need if probably sell it for roughly what you paid?
I don't envy you though, I used to ride into uni every day and that way only ten miles each way, a brilliant blast when the weather was good but then the rain and wind in winter turned it into an epic slog! Probably wasn't as bad as I remember it! I do remember hanging wet gear on the radiators in lectures much to the disgust of some people. Anyway, I digress and am not really helping! As nellyrodders said, you may be able to get a lift, even if they live further out of city it's a start.
