  • We can smash it to the pub and then back again.
Best bit of Thursday Beer rides in a Friday night ride stylee.

  • Might be up for it depending on what time you are planning. Getting tattooed after work thursday.

  • Decided on a venue yet j?

  • I'd be up for this. Also I was wondering is anyone here a member of any local CCs? I've never considered it until recently, after being let down by my riding buddies. I thought if I was a member of a club at least I'd have some guaranteed group rides.

  • ^^^Was thinking of a 7pm set off. Dull as it may be I can't be out too late.

^^Nothing yet. I guess a run to Woodbastwick would do if I can't think of anything else.

^Not me. There was some talk of setting a Dandy Horse club up but i haven't heard anything about that recently.

  • I won't be about for riding by 7pm so that will be me out tomorrow.

  • The main clubs in Norwich are Iceni Velo, Velo Club Norwich and Norwich ABC. Iceni have a good rep and I've been on some good rides with ABC. Wouldn't touch VCN based on my experience, a lot too much testosterone.

  • The VCN guys are typically quite friendly, with a good amount of srs and ride well. Iceni can be a bit hit and miss, I don't go out with them much any more

  • The Dandy Horse should definitely start one. I've walked past VCN meeting for a Sunday club ride once and there were masses of them. Kind of put me off. I like riding in smaller groups.

  • I know people from Iceni and VCN - I often ride road with VCN and MTB with Iceni. All good folk.

  • We are in the midst of planning a proper Dandy organised day ride for next spring - about 50 miles to Reedham ferry and back, signposted and feed stationed, with silly races in the car park at half way - only on steel frames, with the tag line, Cut Your Carbon Footprint.

But yeah, also should get some more regular rides starting from there soon.

  • ^ carbonist

  • I must've met the worst of the VCN bunch then. Big groups are fun, they usually split into smaller groups depending on pace as far as I know.

sounds like it could be a laugh

  • Max/12ounce - Sorry for the late posting, tonight's ride is being postponed due to illness.

May be about tomorrow if people are free.

No worries. I decided to do a few hill repeats on the way home from work so that was my fill for the night.

  • So, I hear that the Friday Night Ride is mentioned in the latest issue of The Ride Journal, page 71. Just a heads up.

  • some say its a myth ...

  • Surely not ours

    #boastpost

Mine came in the post yesterday. A good read.

  • ;)

  • What about the Friday Night Ride?

  • I know this is a bit off topic but I'm thinking of doing Great Yarmoth to Kings Lynn (well, starting from Manningtree) along the coast. Is there lots of flooding in the country lanes? Or do you think I'll be ok? Thanks for any advice.

  • A cursory search of local websites isn't showing any road closures due to flooding at the moment but I did find this which might help: http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/34678.aspx?type=Region&term=Anglian
