No bike to ride this Friday as I was run down on Dereham Road at 8:25 this morning. The frame has buckled. Gutted.
-
• #1254
What?! Are you ok?
-
• #1255
Dang. What about you, any injuries or just a hurting wallet? It's a steel isn't it? Should be fixable.
-

Sore arm, its a little numb. Graze on my inside right ankle. Going to the Dr's and the police station later to report it. I should be fine.
I was coming down the bike lane with a queue of traffic on my right, There was a gap at Nelson St in the traffic and a woman in a Renault Scenic pulled into Nelson St as I was meeting the junction. She was right over into the mouth of Nelson St before I could stop.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Did you get her details? And details for witnesses?
Definitely report it.
-
• #1258
Yeah got details of the driver and a woman that stopped to give hers. She was really upset. I was furious when I got up but felt awful when I saw how shaken she was.
Mainly pissed off about the bike. Was really starting to feel comfortable with it. The driver said she'd replace the frame. Back to the drawing board.

Sorry to ask, but are you the guy who came out with us on Friday? The bass player with the new bike?
-
• #1260
Glad you're OK - that's the main thing.
-
• #1261
Dude, that shit sucks. Are you ok chris? You will have to get her to buy you something really swanky! Tehehehe

I was the guy with the new bike, now I'm the guy with the pile of ruined steel in his garden.
Dr said I'm fine, just scrapes and bruises. Going to be a huge one on my right upper arm though.
Got a call just now from the woman, she said she will pay whatever it takes. She said she has a 400 pound excess on her car insurance and would rather give me 400 than put a claim in. I stupidly told her it couldn't come to more than 220 but that I would look at the bike tonight. Scouring the for sale section for something to start again with.

There is no way your new frame will cost anything less than 390 surely? theres quite a few really nice bikes knocking around here for that sort of cheddar. what size frame you riding?
-
• #1264
was 54cm. I was very happy with it. The further I get from its death the more it hurts.
-
• #1265
Whoa man, glad you are ok, You met donny on friday night, he may be able to fit a new down and top tube to it, worth giving him an ask.
-
• #1266
You think? it was 531 SL. figured that might make it harder/impossible to fix

I know you may have really liked the frame and all, but that looks a pretty savage blow, forks may well be out, head tube, seat tube and down tube. Make her pay for it, just because your a bike doesn't mean you count any less. This is a great opportunity to get a hella dope frame!

I'm not sure, he'll be able to tell you whether its fixable or not...
his details are here...

I have his card. Would like to fix it if possible. Will definitely ask him.
I had been looking at the Chesini today. Would buy it now but I'm short till I get her money. Will have to hope Jonny will wait.
-
• #1270
Would you be happy to ride that though knowing its gone through a crash like that?
-
• #1271
That does concern me. There is also that element if you sold it after repair.
-
• #1272
Buy the Chesini. or the Panasonic. I agree with Spence and also seems like a bit of a waste of money?
-
• #1273
It'll probably cost over £200 to repair once you add in a respray.
You can borrow my polo bike frame if you need something in the meantime.
-
• #1274
Would like to see that frame whole again if possible. Would go on the back burner if I can get another soon. Thanks Ben

Just strike it down as a bad one. I'd just go out and buy yourself a lovely frame either used or new.
As I said before I don't think I could bring myself to ride that not knowing It's gone through that. Also factoring in the cost of a repairing it and a respray, you could probably get one of these; http://www.brothercycles.com/store
Enjoyed Friday night guys, more than I'm used to but thats only a good thing. Will be up for next friday if people are out. Was excellent to meet you all!
