  • fable is indeed tedious and childish (Gnomes ffs!)
go play a fallout game for adult entertainment (Genomes ftw)

  • go play a fallout game for adult entertainment

I thought I would play Fallout 1, just because I'd never played it and I figured the backstory would be interesting.

I had exactly the same experience as Hatbeard, only instead of grinding for money I was grinding for XP so that I could actually progress through the game due to its stupid boring levelling.

Moral of the story: fuck video games >:(

  • look it up on the xbl marketplace and you'll be able to download it for free to your hdd

The games? How do I know which ones go free?

  • The last of us day today! Going to pick up my preorder tonight, not gonna elget to play until Sunday morning though.

  • I thought I would play Fallout 1,

Moral of the story: fuck old video games >:(

    Play Las Vegas you may

End up having breakfast with a showgirl and a mixologist

  • I can do that IRL! I live in London, cuz!

  • rant ahead, may contain shitty spoilers that will lessen your enjoyment of fable3 by about 0.05%

nearly got enough dosh to start my war in fable 3 now. god it's so fucking tedious. even owning every property in albion i get ~40k every 5 minutes of real time so i basically am just faffing about in game doing fuck all while the clock ticks down and even though i'm a good character everyone hates me because i own everything and they have to pay me rent. as far as game mechanics goes it's not the most riveting experience i've ever had.

still now i'm invested so i have to see the thing through. was collecting all the silver keys, books and gnomes but it turns out you cant even finish some of them until the games over. the silver keys would give me 2 mill and i could probably go ahead and finish it right now but some are hidden in areas you can't get to until you're done. balls.

Isn't there one of those talking doors where you open it and there's something like 1 million - Edit just checked you need to be king or queen - crap.

How much gold are we talking about here? I'm still creating pies for money thought I may have to buy a house before long!

Other approach is look for multiplayer games and ask for people to gift you gold?

  • min 6.5million!

  • crap - buy all the places you can. Raise the rent then leave the xbox on when you go to bed. Should cover it easily.

Once you get close lower the rent - they'll soon like you again.

  • it does snowball eventually and the money comes in quite quickly but fuck me it's such a stupid idea having to do it in the first place.

it's like they realised the game was 12 hours too short so they just added in the money thing to make players grind out the last half.

  • Fable sounds shit. No wonder they're giving it away.

Off down HMV at lunchtime to pick up The Last of Us. This weekend will mostly be spent with the curtains drawn, lights off and volume up.

  • Don't forget your lube.

  • Watch out for the autosave glitch.
heard a couple of people have lost their mornings work.

  • Don't forget your lube.

tears count as lube don't they?

  • Depends how bad the tear is.

  • Cheers for the heads-up on the autosave thing. The lube will be useful if it gets stuck.

  • Is this the Fable where there are x number of years before the ultimate battle takes place, but it doesn't really give you a warning when that will be as it jumps seemingly random amounts of time and then drops you into the battle? (I think there were three steps?)

    If so, fuck that shit.

  • it's a year and yes.

good grief, glad I only play shooting games. This just sounds masochistic

  • The last of us is awesome, it's like a cross between dawn of the dead and children of men in a video game

  • I havent managed to put any time into it yet, still trying to escape from Boston!

Am enjoying it, but my run-and-gun attitde isnt suited to the game, its a learning curve for me

  • I downloaded The Witcher off Steam last night because it's available on mac and it only costs 3 quid. Baffled as to how combat works. Destroyed the first boss without any understanding of how it even happened. And the only likeable character so far dies in the first fifteen minutes of play time. lolwut.

    Old games >>>>>

Yeah, it's definitely more of a sneaky sneaky game.

  • It's frequently too stressful to even sneak. I've been spending a lot of time hiding. In my defence I'm playing it on the hardest available difficulty and have turned off all the hints.

Anyone done that flooded hotel basement yet? [Shivers]

Top marks to Naughty Dog for not having the game pause when you hit select to bring up the inventory/crafting screen. Really adds to the tension when you need to desperately knock up a med kit and time doesn't simply freeze. Impressed by the human AI as well. Seems they typically patrol individually until they notice something's up, after which they group together and become much harder to deal with. Unless you've got a molotov or two handy :)

No doubt in my mind that's it's way up there with the best games I've ever played. Also amazing what they've squeezed out of the ancient PS3, even though the frame rate does drop occasionally. Even despite playing technically better looking games on the PC, I don't think any have come close to matching the atmosphere the environment generates.
