PS 4 just killed xbox. Sony guys here having one great night. Currently in LA for E3. £329 a good deal, still not able to find anyone who can explain exchange rates. $399, £329, €399
-
• #8030
^ it's £349, not £329...
-
• #8031
It's late here, sorry!
-
• #8032
And you need ps+ to play online, so it's £390 for the ps4 & ps+, still a chunk cheaper than the £430 xbone + xbgold (£40?)
Not gonna be a day 1 purchase for me, but certainly a few months after launch

• #8033
Also, region free games on the PS4.

I'm at peace with the Xbox One price. You're getting a very powerful PC that's going to channel all your TV based media (games, TV, DVD, Blu rays) and if the 360 is anything to go by, it'll have a shelf life of nearly a decade, which is more than you can say about the iPad, which costs the same for the basic spec model
-
• #8035
Not making it backwards compatible suddenly makes sense. 'Completely different architecture' my arse. It's because there's still a couple of years of life left in the 360.

Really not sure on the xbox one. I can't help but think that Sony have already won this gen, just as they did with the PS2.
I really want to want/like the xbox one but am finding it harder as I keep reading about the PS4.

The Xbox will win America, which means it'll be seen to win this war, that's something Sony can't do anything about
-
• #8038
I'm not sure I agree there. PS4 is £100 cheaper, and doesn't require a gold sub to use online media services like the xbox will with Netflix.
-
• #8039
MS historically does well in the US, and the balance of power has shifted to there now, regardless of cost
-
• #8040
But things have changed a lot since the last consoles came out. I think people will be looking at money a lot more now.
That and the fact when the PS3 was lauched the reason it didn't sell so well was due to how much more expensive it was over the xbox, I'm taking that same model and applying it this time around.

Love fact Asia's getting the Xbox One so much later. That's revenge for years of neglect during the 16bit era!

Ha - just picked this gem up from a Guardian article:
"If Kinect senses too many people in the room [more than the licence allows], it will prompt the users to upgrade the license."
I keep my 360 in a cupboard. I imagine that would be against the rules with an xbone if I were to get one...
-
• #8043
Yeah apparently you can't use it in a cupboard. Which completely sucks. I really don't like the idea of having kinect on all the time.
-
• #8044
Even if kinect's not on all the time, I reckon people are suddenly gonna be a lot more suspicious of a camera and microphone stuck on top of the telly.

That's also permanently connected to teh intorwebz.
big Mother is watching you -

Yeah - it is a bit weird. Given recent privacy releases, why on earth would you invite that into your house? All the NSA hacking has really come at a bad time for Microsoft hasn't it.

I've got a 'one' in my basket at microsoft.com... I want one, but i just dunno.
It'll be easier than worrying about a PC, and I've enjoyed the 360 since launch, but the cost of buying new games (pretty much) every time is hurting my wallet already.
The other worrying thing for me is that it's being advertised as this amazing media thing, but I really can't see how they'll get all that shit to work in the UK. US, maybe, but here? Doubt it.
Oh, and I've only got a 2.5-3 meg broadband line... I really can't see how that is going to cope well with 'cloud' computing if it can only just manage netflix and nothing else.
Tell me what to do internet. I can't make decisions by myself anymore.
-
• #8048
wait? it's still very early days for both consoles
-
• #8049
Wait until it's released read reviews. Enjoy GTA 5 on the 360 (as it doesn't look as though it's getting a next gen release yet)
I'll jump in probably around this time next year, possibly even wait until next Christmas.

Not sure how many people will be interested… but I'm doing the music & sound effects for this Wii U eShop game that's being shown at E3:
Nintendo eShop - Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails Trailer - YouTube
Anyone on gold now gets 2 free games a month. Yours to keep as long as you like!
