I only bought bf a few weeks ago for 20 quid from amazon. If I'd known about premium I probably would have stumped up 30 and been done with it. Downloading them all from XBL and paying through the nose for it = fuck that.

I've been playing Far Cry 3 a decent amount recently, it's quite repetitive, most of the missions at the moment seem to be "shoot your way through some pirates, get something, escape from cave/mine/boat/temple as the whole place goes to shit". It's a really nice world to explore though.

Far Cry 3 I really enjoyed... but don't currently have a pc powerful enough to play it.

What are the games going really cheap atm for PC ? I cannot view any gaming site at work :(

I've always found highest res possible and lowest settings is better than high settings and tiny res. or could you not even do that?

JB the conversation you are having with Scoble is the reason why whenever a PC gamer goes on about how amazing their set up is, and how cheap it was too, and why would anyone want a console, I always want to give them a slap...

Different strokes for different folks and all that, but the propensity for PC gamers to look down on anything that isn't a PC and yet half the time, the latest games take a significant amount of fettling to get to run on older machines...

Just see a page or two back in relation to the "No Box" launch of the PS4, lots of chattering from the PC classes about how its a PC in a box, and a slower one at that, and it'll be pretty much obsolete when it hits the shelves, as PC tech will have moved on, BUT in six or seven years time, a developer will still be able to produce a game which will run well without any updating/upgrading from the users end. Just plug and play.

Obviously if I'm speaking nonsense fell free to put holes in this theory, and be aware I'm not trying to stoke a gaming turfwar, just wanted to get it off my chest.

in other news, have been raiding all the branches of HMV and Blockbusters that are being closed for gaming bargains.. Seems like the scavengers got their first, but did get Arkham City for small beer as well as a preplayed version of fifa12.

Does anyone know if there is a way of getting a new online code for fifa 12, I've never really done the online play thing, so wanted to give it a try..

well truth be told, my PC which I built about a month before PS3 came out (at twice the price though) can play Far Cry 3 at a much higher resolution and with much better graphics.

Also did I mention I paid $5 for Far Cry 3 ? Oh and like £2 for the new Batman etc... I've made the difference in savings on my games easily between PC and PS3 ... and I can use it for more (and better gfx, modding games etc...).

One of the main reasons the PS4 is PC based is becuase developers gave Sony such a hard time for years over the difficultly in producing games for a custom hardware platform. Xbox/PC was much easier as MS provide a lovely intergreated development suite based on VisualStudio. Write once, roll out two different platform games. Fine it meant the PC game was generally identical to the Xbox copy, only occationally did people release HD packs for the games.

At the end of the day, it's horses for courses. I'll always have a console as I review stuff, but I game mainly on PC as it allows me to do far more.

IIRC you've got to contact EA (there's a UK office) and they can provide the code, think you have to give them the serial number

Oh I just had a flashback to the blisters after the 1500m race..

Note: earlier when I said I don't currently have a machine powerful enough to play it, that's becuase my PC is in storage for shipping... only got a crappy work dell laptop
