  • Hmm you have to pay for it!

Since when does one have to pay for stuff on the internet eh?

I think you can still download the older, non pay version, can't remember which version it is though..

  • ha ha

I've never topped Sumo's effort but when I was at college I used to play counterstrike till some silly hours.

Same with Diablo 2 come to think of it.

I'm slightly annoyed Steam never records the played time of games properly. I must have thousands of hours sunk in to cs:s

  • Anyone played wargame: ee yet?

Mine's been downloading on my shitty connection since 4pm - allegedly 2 hours remaining but I'm not convinced. It's only 70percent in.

I was thinking the same actually, they must have only started recording it recently.

I've played 42 hours on my account but I know for a fact I've probably played 10x that in my life time of CS:S

    I'll have a look tonight.

Ended up playing BF3 last night with a full squad of friends, hell of a lot of fun, even if we were having our asses handed to us by a load of colonel ranks

It's so a chap can deny his addiction to his girlfriend or wife.

  • Ha, very true!

Although I can't really hide my play time on BF3, 84 hours.

My next step is to get my K/D ratio back to 1.

  • I know I'm supposed to be working right now - but I woke up early to check to see if Wargame: European Escalation had finished downloading on Steam. It had.

Just tried the first mission. It's incredible.

This laptop is a bit shit for games but it runs, though not as pretty as it should be. Fantastic menu system, think multiplayer could be awesome on it. Only tried the first mission on the solo campaign and didn't complete it, got my arse handed to me in a PACT ambush. Completely didn't see it coming. They had snuck in ground troops around a bridge before I had time to recon the area and by the time my armour got up to take on their small number of tanks, their RPG wielding troops had crept up behind me and taken me out entirely.

Can't wait to try it properly.

  • Looks like a lot of fun, let me/us know how you get on it looks a bit deep though for starters.

  • I was concerned at first as there's no tutorial, but ingame there are hints that pop up when you try something new which explains it all, in the parts in between game - that's where it might get a bit confusing. I haven't seen any similar hints yet about how you set up your 'deck' but then again I haven't earned any points to spend yet so I assume that'll come if I ever get past this first level.

Got to do some writing now though, so perhaps I'll try tonight.

  • Supply trucks are your friend CYOA. The other thing to remember is if you click the little counter in the top left you can call in reinforcements, depending on how many points you have, and whether you control an appropriate zone.

In that first mission there is a secondary objective to capture a FOB across the middle bridge as well. Good for repairing your tanks, as the experience they gain is carried through missions so long as they live.

The more objectives you complete the more 'command stars' you have to unlock more advanced vehicles, etc

  • Ta :) Look forward to having a crack later. I only really ran it this morning to test if this laptop was capable. Smooth as you like so far, but minimal detail on vehicles. Intrigued to see how many units on screen before it starts to lag.

  • yup, was really surprised when I saw the sys requirements, yet to see it lag at all really.

  • Ok I am not a techy PC guy but that Wargame looks good. I bought this the other day

will the game run on my laptop?

  • that's a smart looking laptop.

  • Only thing I can see being an issue is the integrated video card - check here:

    http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx

It's not 100% accurate, but I've always had luck with it (apart from battlefield 3 which is says just runs, only to find out that it runs at about 33 percent of the normal speed.

yeah it looks quite nice but I have no idea if it is able to do much. Mainly bought it for hooking up to my HDTV to watch films, spotify, working from home when I need to and emails/job applications.

Havent had a comp for a couple of years and have used my work comp and borrowed others so it is quite nice to have. £400 was my max budget so I am not sure it is really up to games. I have an Xbox so wasn't a priority.

Thanks I will check it out later

  • Video Game discussion on Front Row BBC radio 4 tonight at 1915.
When will games be considered good/cultural enough for front row?

  • anyone got a Vita?
Sold my PSP and a few games this week and have about half the money for a wifi one.

Not sure if i want to be an early adopter or wait for the 3rd party memory cards, and a decent game catalogue to be about.

  • Not yet... I probably should get one for reviewing, but the cost is too much

  • Heads up. Steam sale this weekend. I just got Deus Ex for something like £13

  • thinking about buying nhl 2012 not sure though. Will it last longer than 2 weeks, really need something which is going to last me. LA Noire is almost done after 2 already.

Any suggestions for ps3 games with longevity.

  • Talking of LA Noire, Nvidia have updated their drivers and Rockstar have released an update for dx11 so finally I have been able to play the thing on my spanking gaming laptop. Before it was rubbish, jerky and unplayable, as it refused to use the Nvidia and only used the on board intel chipset.

I have been rather enjoying it so far. Handbrake turns are awesome.

I quite enjoyed it, though you can easily "overplay" it and it gets a bit repetitive, still a great game IMO.

On a different note, downloaded Crysis over the weekend, it's pretty amazing, seeing what all the fuss is about now.
