  • Shadow of the colossus is wrong, immoral
Take care deerface as you work out how to fell those creatures

  • I had to go outside and have a cigar I was so upset last night.

Either games are getting easier, or I'm just getting shitter.

  • ^ This.

got Broadband connected last night and played my first WH40k multiplayer. I liked it a lot.

Heh. I caved and went back to xbox live gold to play wh40k. Again I was impressed. Was better than i was expecting. The classes are very well balanced. And I'm not hideously bad at it either!

or you're getting easier and games are getting shitter

  • All of the above.

Missus pulled another 'play games on sunday if you dare' ...but I want this un-achievable list of jobs to do done too.

    FUUUUU...

  • Bleak sadistic dank dark difficult beautiful pure gaming hell.
    Dark Souls. videogaming excellence.

2 hours in and I'm lonely and scared, hollow and dead, hating it and loving it.

    IGN review (Insightful reviewer)
    9.5 Presentation
The creature and environment design is incomparable, confidently spanning the extremes between disgusting, horrific, majestic and desolately beautiful.
    9.0 Graphics
Occasional slow-down in busy areas is not enough to take the sheen off this world.
    9.5 Sound
Dark Souls' sound design is astounding, from the beating of mighty wings to the atmospheric drip-drip-drip of a dank sewer.
    9.0 Gameplay
Tight, exciting combat is a the core of brutally fair design that only occasionally crosses the line.
    9.5 Lasting Appeal
There are at least 60 hours in the first playthrough, with plenty more in exploration and experimentation.

  • I think if I can't do Shadow of the Colossus, I'm going to smash my TV at dark souls.

  • Dark souls IS hard. So old skool. No map, enemies respawn every time you reach the safety of a 'bonfire'. It's open world and there is no hint as to which areas are impossible till you level up (and yes skeletons ARE dangerous). You drop all your found possessions when you die and have to fight the respawned foes to get back your stuff. It is s compelling and atmospheric you want to keep going back. Not a game for spoiled modern gamers who like having their hands held while lead through a narrative.

The online element is strange. You see blood stains where others have died and you can touch those spots. You see ghostly whisps of fellow adventurers and share bonfires. It is such a unique experience playing late last night i was transported to this world and lost track of time and reality. I gather that later on in the game you need to summon other players online to help kill some bosses and make progress which is nigh on impossible alone.

  • Sounds horrible.

  • horrible and compelling and ultimately so satisfying when you make some progress

  • underwhelmed by battlefield3

  • I haven't been able to play Battlefield 3 yet. Downloaded it Thursday night but was too busy to play, then had my stag weekend.

With any luck I'll be playing it tonight whilst nursing my weekend woes.

  • Driver currenty downloading, this is going to be a good day.

  • It's a good game, I enjoyed it even if it was a bit silly.

Currently still playing Rift, although I bought Gears of War 2 for £10 from HMV yesterday

  • underwhelmed by battlefield3

Are you getting killed a lot? ;-)

So far, I find it brilliant and frustrating in almost equal parts. When you get on a good run and with a good squad it's a fantastic shooter with great unlock progression which keeps you playing.
There are loads of bugs though.

  • I had a read through your review beforehand. While Driv3r was pretty disappointing, and I never actually gave Parallel Lines a chance. The driving physics look like they're back to what I loved about the first 2 games. And now that the shift idea has gotten rid of the terrible out of car moments that plagued the 2nd and 3rd games, it seems like a good bet. Though I do wish that it was set in the 70s so that I didn't have to deal with looking at Audi A8s and other modern cars. For me the series is just a way to play out the classic car chases from the likes of Bullit, Vanishing Point, Gone In 60 Seconds etc.

Though it was nice driving around Nice in Driv3r which was very Ronin-esque.

    Of course!

Dived straight into the franchise with high hopes, but I just reckon the game mechanics are just too complicated and involved for me. Spotting targets and upgrading weapons just feels like a chore. I prefer a more arcadey feel, and after a couple of hours, jumped back into Halo.

  • I'd pick up dark souls, but I think I'd jut get too frustrated. I'll just wait for skyrim, and punch some butterflies.

  • FInally got into the Battlefield III beta.

    Looking forward to MW3.

I didn't really comment on the movie stuff. Collect the movie boards ingame, and you can do some of the classic movie car moments... in classic cars too.,

  • Now that i'm looking forward to. Didn't know about that, however it is taking its time downloading. Not helped by the fact that i'm streaming the MotoGP race while it's downloading...

  • Dark souls blah blah blah...

was wondering when someone was gonna mention it. got 9.5 on gamespot and i have been desperate to play it since i finished demons souls 300 times. i've yet to find another person who enjoyed it though.

  • dark souls is tempting me too... i know that it will probably cost me a couple of smashed controllers though.

  • I wish I had the money for Dark Souls, in the meanwhile I'll just have to start playing Demon's Souls again.

  • gonna trade Dead Island in on friday and pick up Rage
