Aye, maybe I was just unlucky, bought a couple of "partial" and one wit full that all the reviews said was incorrect (didnt notice that). Its great having better graphics than console on my TV but the fact I often have to have a keyboard handy is really annoying... I just need Apple to release some machines with a decent GPU then I can answer all my gaming needs on an iMac. LOLZ.

Cheers, I've added that to my wishlist on Steam. On PC and the mods look decent.
For a keyboard I have one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-Keyboard-Esynic-Touchpad-Mouse/dp/B00DUUF250 Not much bigger than a tv remote and fine for the occasional bit of typing or mouse.

Interview with one of the Assetto Corsa devs - http://petrolicious.com/how-assetto-corsa-s-lead-designer-digitizes-classic-tracks-and-iconic-cars
tl-dr: Actual race driver tries simulated version of real car and complains it drives like shit. Real driver's race engineer tells AC devs the sim is therefore spot-on.

Steam link and controller 30% off (£28 each), or 37% (£50) if bought together, until 6pm. Caveat is £10+VAT shipping and it still taking 4-8 days. Fuckers.
Been on the fence for a while but this was too tempting to pass up. Not quite sure what to expect from the controller, will post impressions in due course.

Hmmm...

I have one. They are good but take a bit of getting used to... also, onscreen prompts often don't match up which is the biggest issue for me. Bonus feature - you can control the cursor outside of steam as you would with a normal mouse so easy to open steam and run in big picture mode from whichever OS you are in (I am aware you can set it up to auto do that but I like to pretend I use OS X for something other than gaming).

I've ordered the set. Apparently you can also use an Xbox One controller (wchi I already have) with the Steam Link, so couch co-op!
-
• #15763
Does the xbox one controller sync wirelessly to the steam link without a microsoft dongle?
-
• #15764
Only the brand new one does (Bluetooth). All others; dongle.

I've always been a bit dodgy about shooters based on real life events, particularly ones where millions of people died in them, but I can't help but be very excited about Battlefield 1.

Are not all Xbox One controllers bluetooth? How do I know which I have?
-
• #15767
Only the one that has just come out has Bluetooth. If you bought it before August, it's not Bluetooth.
-
• #15768
Crud. I'll get a long USB cable, I guess.
-
• #15769
If it's a wireless one, I don't think you can run it over usb.. I think it's for charging only.
-
• #15770
I use my wireless xbone controller over USB on Windows 10 just fine.
-
• #15771
I use the USB on the wireless controller on my PC? I guess I'll find out when it comes.
-
• #15772
I found the xbox one controller fussy about cables. Works fine with the right one tho.

Speaking of dodgy shooters, did you ever see that level in COD called "No Russian". How the fuck that ever got through I'll never know.
-
• #15774
That's the one they patched in a warning and opt out of playing it.
My experience of COD hints that 90% of the players are racist, homophobic, misogynistic 13 year old. They probably fantasise about genocide.

I remember being especially pissed off about that because it was such a missed opportunity. I personally don't think there's any subject you can't tell a story about as long as you tell it well. Making the player complicit in a terrorist attack isn't in itself a bad way of telling an - admittedly - horrific story. But they really fucked the pooch on it. Instead of giving it the emotional weight something like that really needed, they treated it as a prelude to a firefight, and worse, resorted to cheap gags while doing it. (Oh, you're stopping me from running, and you're calling it 'No Russian/rushing'? How clever, and wonderfully appropriate!) I agree with @DethBeard, that most COD players are basically Jimmy from GTA, and if you just judge it by that level, COD got the players they deserved.
But I also remember another level from one of the other CODs where you're up in an AC30 gunship, hitting ground targets. It's eerily realistic because of the granular, black and white footage, the hum of the engine, the sparse radio dialogue, a disembodied voice telling you to shoot these little pixels on the ground, they don't look like people and you don't hear them scream. It's an incredible level because it must be almost exactly what it's like for the people who actually do it in real life, just as remote, just as sterile. There's no judgement if you hit or if you don't hit. It's totally terrifying. I thought that was a fantastic bit of storytelling, and incredibly subversive to be tucked away in the middle of a all-guns-blazing shooter.
Ok, cheers, will check it out..
