  • maybe this list - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/04/17/product_roundup_17_inch_gaming_laptops/

I'd be interested to see any others around though

  • FPS with a touchpad lol

  • I'm talking average, something that can handle some latest games rather than the best, mid range says £500-£600.

  • Don't see the issue with using a laptop for games myself, my Surface Pro 2 can easily run MGS 5 at a decent frame rate, admittedly it only gets around 25 for GTAV but I can work with that.

  • Huh, just reading up on the Surface Pro 2, it can actually play Skyrim on average setting whether my computer just barely can.

This is what I'm looking for, I've purchased a brunch of Steam games when it's over 75% off but don't have the necessary power to play it.

  • I'm sure any of those laptops in the link above could easily take care of it, this thing doesn't even have a dedicated graphics card!

  • That what made it impressive, especially GTAv.

Mind you a touchscreen would make playing Fallout 2 a breeze.

  • Btw all those are way too expensive.

  • Fcking Skyrim - sold my PS3 to get it out of my life, now have bought it again for X-Box - sat up to 3am last night getting my sneaky Khajit assassin (sneak, one-handed, restoration, archery) up to level 33. fml

  • Definitely, one thing I've learned over the past few years. If you're thinking about getting a laptop to play games on, don't listen to the people who've never used a laptop to play games on harping on about how crap they are for the job.

Regarding the laptop you posted a link to, here's a video of GTAV with a similar laptop and same graphics card playing it. Apparently runs at 40+fps when not recording:

  • 40fps? they not invented 60fps laptop screens yet?

  • Buy a macbook.

  • I don't think the screen is the limitation...

  • That's me with Fallout 3/New Vegas.

I'm dreaded for Fallout 4 and the time I will spend on it.

  • Did some research, turn out the Intel 4400 is actually pretty decent for an integrated graphic.

  • Iris pro is about the same as a 650m, you could prob get a rMBP second hand for near £900 (maybe) so maybe a PC with one would be within your budget?

  • Found an Asus laptop with GeForce GT 720m for half that (and i5), so far so good, gonna keep looking.

  • The laptop I'm typing this on has a (now broken) GT555M, and when it worked it was perfectly capable of running Fallout3 or NV on really pretty settings, so I guess a 720m will be great.

  • It is, at max setting on max resolution.

  • It is indeed, but still no match for I guess even a half decent graphics card. But it's pretty awesome that you can buy a tablet that's not intended for gaming that's able to run GTAV (just), looking forward to building up a proper desktop soon!

  • Despite plenty of reasons not to buy in The Witcher (never played any of the previous ones, fantasy subject doesn't appeal much, no idea how I'm gonna find the time for another 100+ hour game) I've caved in before it's even been released.

Couldn't resist another open-world explorathon, especially when the open-world is apparently so well realised.

  • Did you buy the bundle ? You can get 1 & 2 for like 5 quid or so.

1 is a great story but the game mechanics drove me crazy and I could never get passed about 1/3rd of the way in

2 is much more user friendly, but I think the story is a little watered down. That said I'm playing 2 right now and having a lot of fun.

Have yet ot decide on pre-order 3 for pc or not. I don't really give a shit about the "bonuses" so might just wait but dlgamer have it for ~28% off

  • Saw something about the bundle after paying £37 at GMG. To be honest there's no way I'd have the patience to get through either of the first two before starting the new one so I'm not too bothered about missing any back story. Apparently the books are worth reading but I never find enough time away from the computer for that sort of stuff anyway.

  • ^& ^^ saw someone playing it in russian on twitch last night.

looked less impressive in the flesh as it were, the dialog cut scenes (in russian) seemed to be fucking long.

am tempted though as just finished every quest on sunset overdrive and need a new game.

  • Stoked on Witcher 3. Well reviewed.
