Has anyone else played Demon's Souls and Dark Souls? I can't get over the feeling that Dark Souls is essentially just a lazy re-skin of Demon's. Half the monsters utilise the same models/attack animations, a lot of the bosses are pretty similar, and some of the set pieces are re-used. The game environment was changed a lot in Dark Souls, to be essentially one continuous world, but otherwise I'm not sure what it really adds?
Dark Souls It adds loads. (DS2 is hub based like Demon Souls, but not as well realised, and because of this is...meh!)
The continuous world is a major factor since you can see places from afar and get to them eventually in a coherent manner. The difficulty/learning curve is spot-on and experience of Demon Souls does help with this superficially tough game (tough -until you die enough to learn the attack patterns)
Dark Souls locations and colour pallet are amazing, so atmospheric and varied. The online experience especially the cooperative option is (crucial and) amazing.
I love Dark Souls and I still play it experimenting with different characters and leveling up paths. It is deep, dark, lonely, sad. It is the only game I know that explores of existential angst.

Still, bootcamp. -

I wouldn't trust my Air with bootcamp. I don't want to break it. Planning to get an iPad in the new year to game on that.

Aye, fair call, L4D2 worked ok on my Mini but I do worry about cooking my rMBP when I push settings to high on that...

If you have played D2 in the past, you may like the throwback of returning to Tristram.

Remember when people think all the videogames will be able to run on OS X when Steve Job announced intel?
How I lol'd.

The thing is, they could, if people just pulled their fingers out... you can get wrappers for PC steam games to run native.
Now if I can find a mac with a half decent GPU... -

d3 is pretty much all i play now. that's the great thing about not having too much choice. the not so great thing is the time sink required to level / gear up.

I've got lvl70 on all 6 characters in D3 now. Does that mean I've beaten it? My broadband is too shit to play with others.
-
• #12570
lvl 70 makes Torment 1 just about do-able. you'll die. often. and greater rifts are only viable in a group.
muttering 'back to hell, dog' under my breath to people i work with whos skulls i've turned in to a red mist with my imaginary Devastator war hammer is very cathartic

are you playing with the expansion? the main game seemed to only have about 2-3 playthroughs worth in it before it became very stale and uber repetitive.
-
• #12572
i am yes.
and yes it's repetitive. i don't care. i still need that next piece of T6 barb gear. and most of the fun is in adventure mode. campaigns for any game get old quick.
