I spent 3-whatever quid on x-com enemy unknown. It's good.

Didn't really like the look of X-Com but have picked up Xenonauts and am absolutely loving it.

Great gameplay if strategy is your thing, tense and odly scary at times despite (because of?) dodgy graphics

Xenonauts - good name will check out

Xenonauts basically a remake of the original X-Com/UFO but with better mechanics and graphics, whereas the modern X-Com is more modern take on the game. If that makes sense.

I've been going square-eyed at Rogue Legacy over the weekend. Roguelike-like 2d platformer that the developer say was inspired by games like Dark Souls presumably because nobody in this day and age has heard of Rogue. Predictably YASD-packed.

Almost got through the Steam Summer sale without buying anything (like I promised myself). However I enjoyed Batman: Arkham Asylum so much I bought Origins and City at 75% off...

arkham city is good fun, not played origins yet but it's apparently identical to city.

the one where you have to jump off a railing glide over another building, divebomb then through a tunnel into the factory. but any deviation at all and batman lands on the floor. that nearly made me sell my console the fucking thing.

so PS4. worth getting one now?

I'm so addicted to nba2k14 now I'm tempted to get one just so i can play the next gen version instead.

Is sniper elite 3 worth getting, or shall I grab 2 for less money first?

v2 was free a few weeks back and I grabbed it. Didn't particularly enjoy it tbh. If it's possible for me to gift on my license to you then I will - no idea what steam allows these days. this isn't possible, sorry :(

Sniper Elite V2 has terrible AI and pretty linear level design. Grab the demo on Steam and check it out. I'm waiting for 3 to go on sale before getting it myself.

try doing it on the PC, physically impossible using the keyboard. I tried for about an hour and haven't touched the game since.

I'm thinking about picking up a Wii U

DayZ update Wednesday... also read that I can increase performance if I update my drivers... have looked at a couple of PC's too, god forbid, but a cheap custom build is tempting... hide it away and use Steam stream. My xbox is only gathering dust now...

It looks pretty stunning on the PS4. I've not played for long as I've no idea what I'm doing.

Now as to is the PS4 worth it ? Probably not, there's still a serious lack of amazing games for it. Most are available on all platforms. AC4:Black Flag was stunning, but again there's PS3/Xbox versions.

At E3 this year I tried some of the new up coming games.

• The Order 1886 was only a short section but stunning meld of video + gaming
  
• Bloodborne is going to make a lot of people cry in frustration (but damn it looks seriously good, and is fun to play when in god mode as the demo build was)
  
• No Mans Sky ... I want this NOW!
  
• Helldivers was fantastic 4 player co-op fun. We died. A lot. Friendly fire is not friendly.
  
• Far Cry 4 - everyone just shoots the fucking elephant! Multi-platform, but I'll probably get the PS4 as it looks as good as PC but less faffing around.
  

nba2k14 is like the madden games you need to know about how to run the plays and the nuances of what it is that makes good players good, moving off the ball, how to make space, how to anticipate the oppositions offense (which changes completely based on the team/players you're up against). i'm nowhere near adept at it yet. building up the muscle memory for all of the numerous controls and when to use them will take a good amount of time i think.

I have a shocking W-L record 3/4 through the first season and am on the brink of not reaching the playoffs but now i'm getting used to it I'm finding we're actually leading the league in a lot of the stats for the past month (in-game) as my game has stepped up considerably.

Is that on the basis of the ubisoft quote? If they're seriously suggesting the PC version with 'ultra' settings will look no better than the PS4, they can fuck off.

No, that's based on me having played the PS4 version and see the Ubisoft presentations/stands/etc... That said, I've no idea what the PC settings were at Ubisoft's stand. The Ubisoft presentation DID look better than the PS4 though, but wasn't able to get hands on with their machines.

From experience Ubisoft are targeting consoles more than PC (fucking Watchdogs is a faff on PC and I'm regretting not getting the PS4 version)

Didn't Ubisoft purposefully hamper the PC version of Watchdog's graphics so as not to upset people who had bought a PS4?
